Prose

[edit]
  • In the lead, wikilink independent station to Independent station (North America).
  • "and CPI Subscription TV, subsidiary of cable" recommend adding a here. This is grammatically correct but with "a group led by" at the start of the sentence it sounds strange.
  • "CPI exited the running," – running sounds a bit weird to me; is a better word choice available for is this a correct word usage in US-en?
  • Perhaps wikilink majority stake and FM (in the first paragraph) for readers unfamiliar with their meanings.
  • "broadcasting from studios at 8950 Kirby Drive." – what locality?
  • "audience in the Houston metro," – recommend "Houston metropolitan area" for clarity.
  • I doubt the further information template is necessary as Senior Road Tower can be wikilinked in the text itself.
  • "giving it prime time hours to program" – wikilink prime time.
  • Wikilink NBA.
  • "place on Monday, December 6." – is the day of the week necessary?
  • Wikilink guy-wire.
  • The sentence starting "While orders were placed" is quite wordy with a lot of clauses; could it perhaps be split?
  • "However, negotiations fell through" – do we know why?
    • Unfortunately no.
  • "several months at the FCC, which" – change acronym to "Federal Communications Commission (FCC)".
  • "a 23-year-old Hannah Storm" – sounds slightly sensationalised, in a way. How about something along the lines of "at an early point in her career" etc.
  • "purchase left TVX highly leveraged and highly vulnerable" – the same effect of the text could be achieved if the instances of highly were removed.
    • If you pick up more TVX pages, you will find this phrasing (the section was first used at KTXA), so feel free to change it. This acquisition was the back-breaker for the company.
  • Wikilink United Paramount Network instead of the acronym for consistency.
  • "As part of its acquisition of the Chris-Craft stations" – wikilink if possible.
    • Done. This section is identical to WDCA.
  • Wikilink Warner Bros.
  • "last season on the RSN" – RSN?

@Sammi Brie: Awesomesauce! I have left one last concern below than I should be able to approve this.  LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 15:38, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Passes spotcheck on refs 5, 11, 25, 34, 47, 54 and 60.

  • Ref 58 is not a reliable source unless Mike McGuff is a subject matter expert. From what I could find on his socials it seems he used to work at several stations but I am not sure if that is enough; that would not necessarily make him a reputable journalist on his own.
    • @LunaEatsTuna: It's also the only source I can find on the whole internet that mentions the station's current branding. The reason I even left McGuff (I usually take him out) is because nobody else bothered. One thing I suffer from in covering the last 15 years is that newspaper coverage of media, as with newspapers themselves, has suffered badly. It might say something about how little-noticed these secondary stations are. Anyway, it's been removed. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:23, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
