(Criteria marked are unassessed)

At one point earlier in my life, I lived on the extreme edge of the KC media market, but I don't think I ever watched this channel.

I don't blame you! It seems like it was pretty bad in the 80s—ABRY did quite good at turning this around. I have two more Kansas City-market stations that are ready for GA (as part of a pipeline of more than 70 additional titles).
  • "That caused Choice Channel of Kansas City to take on a majority investor: Media Central Inc. of Chattanooga, Tennessee, which purchased a 60 percent interest in the station in February 1983" - cited to p. 123 of a PDF, but p. 123 of that PDF is an advertisement for WJIM-TV. p. 102 mentions the partnership, but while our article implies that the wiring for cable and the bad STV market led to addition of Media Central, the source doesn't support that connection
  • Oops! That's a typo. I must have been trying to convert the citation to something closer and...got 123 in my head instead of 102.
  • "He in turn raided his former employer: WNOL-TV in New Orleans, another independent built in 1983 and which was facing issues of its own" - unclear what exactly this is suppose to mean
    • Fixed with some clarity.
  • "decided not to purchase the designation KCKC from a station in California" - maybe note that KCKC in CA was a radio station, not a television station
    • Fixed.
  • "a radio station in Salem, Missouri," - major MOS:EGG issue here. With the link to the AM station placed solely on "Salem, Missouri", it looks to the reader like Salem is linked, not the radio station
    • Fixed.
  • "which had been at one point the top UPN affiliate in the country" - recommend attribution for this. The source attributes this to a former station general manager, who is clearly a non-neutral party
    • Removed — can't find another source.
  • "In 1997, the Royals moved to an 80-game package, with 30 cable telecasts on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain" - source just states the cable telecast was Prime Sports; given as many regional networks as Prime had I don't think we can just assume that it was the Rocky Mountain one
    • It rebranded between the announcement and the start of the package. An additional reference has been added that should make the logical connection a little clearer.
  • Anything of note happen between 2013 and the Gray purchase?
    • Eh, not really. I'll note that this is where a) most attention around a station turns to their newscasts and b) these secondary stations don't do a lot of interest.

I think that's it from me. Hog Farm Talk 00:55, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
