Kingdom of England

[edit]

I removed the following entry with the edit summary "Not an established acronym, not mentioned in the article"

User:Hiitsmebobby restored the entry with the edit summary "Things like this are all over Wikipedia". This is a totally inadequate justification. Junk elsewhere in Wikipedia is no reason for adding junk here.

A Google search for KOE Kingdom of England showed that this abbreviation is used by on-line gaming groups, but gave no evidence of its use in a general historical context. If the gaming meaning is intended than we should say so and link to an article on gaming. However, this usage is probably not sufficiently notable. I will revert again, please do not restore this without justifying it here. Verbcatcher (talk) 00:55, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well on the KOI page, it contains the Kingdom of Italy, a former state on the Italian peninsula. So if that's included there, surely the Kingdom of England, an historically well known former nation in the early modern era, should be included here, or the Kingdom of Italy is removed, because no-where on it's Wikipedia page does it say KOI. You are right, KOI had the same problem and I have removed Kingdom of Italy from it. This issue is not whether these kingdoms are notable but whether these acronyms for them are well-established for the historical kingdoms themselves, and not just for online gaming groups that are named after them. If the gaming groups are notable then please create Kingdom of England (online gaming), and link this disambiguation page to it. Verbcatcher (talk) 17:12, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry what even is the Kingdom of England in online gaming? Hiitsmebobby (talk) 08:48, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I gave the connection to online gaming above. I used a Google search for KOE Kingdom of England. This shows that KOE is an established acronym for the Kingdom of England group on the ROBLOX online social gaming platform [1]. Similarly, 'KOI' is used for the Kingdom of Italy. Proposed split

[edit]

An editor User:59.149.124.29 has suggested splitting out the surnames into a new article. There doesn't seem to be much point in doing that unless there is additional material to add about the name, in which case just go ahead, but the IP editor would need to log in. The point of keeping articles (including list articles) separate from navigation pages is applicable. Any surname list can be split from any disambiguation page at any time, no tag needed. But yeah, the editor would need to be logged in. -- JHunterJ (talk) 18:22, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
