Pinkvilla is the only reliable site in the entire nation?

Despite having multiple discussions and providing multiple proofs in ICTF and other talk pages about non reliability of new comer Jatinder Singh who writes number as per his wish in a portal which is not specialised for box office. The website neither provide BO frame work or nor easy way to cross check their previously published. They keep changing numbers inside the articles too after publishing. Such sites should never be preferred. If there is a BO frame work one can check territory wise, country wise data any time, but no such things are present. How can we trust this site? A portal like bolly hungama, BOI provide clear data breakup and analysis. Anyone can write an article with numbers in today's world. Each and every site is turning out to give BO numbers but reliability is the main question which should come in place. Reliability will arise for a website only when data is present all the time with BO frame work for future reference and cross check.

When such functionalities are never present how come audience can trust Jatinder Singh who has been writing numbers just for 5 months in a site which a non RS before few months?

It should be BO portal to believe their BO figures like BH & BOI.

Then what difference does he make with trade analysts like Taran Adarsh, Manobala Vijayabalan, Ramesh Bala etc? At least these trade analyst figures are vouched by more than 4-5 reliable top media outlets of the nation both printing and online presence.

Whereas pinkvilla was majorly a gossip site, what reliability can it hold? If they want to really venture into BO field, why there is no BO frame work till date? Hence Jatinder Singh will also fall in the same category like self published sources.

There is no clear information of where he is getting data, no tracking mechanism, no real analytics, just mouth numbers. And articles were also not published on daily basis with day wise numbers. In a random day article gets published with random numbers. No day wise breakup for an user to create trust.

Another main thing which rises curiosity is, he hails from North India and knows only Hindi language, but he or his numbers are never being cited for any of the bollywood movie wiki articles. But why only for Tamil and Kannada? I guess wiki believes there are better sources than him for Bollywood movies, same way there are enough trade analysts in respective industries.

Now coming to KGF chapter 2 wiki article, there were usage of Bolly Hungama and Manobala Vijayabalan quoted by portals like Hindustan times, India Today, dna and even Times of India quoted. Jatinder Singh figure never came into picture for first 3 weeks of BO run, suddenly now he is being said as only reliable source in the nation.

As per trade, KGF2 has broken RRR record to become the highest grossing film of the year. But with 3 days old ₹1107 crore figure said by Jatinder Singh, it creates conflict even with wiki pages like list of grossers articles etc.

Hello, Grabup. I wouldn't call India Today source more reliable because it simply regurgitates the figures published by a Manobala Vijayabalan on twitter without their own fact checking.

Since everything in Indian box office is an estimate, some deviation among the sources is expected to arise. Unless we know for sure that some of these sources are dubious, we should simply display range by including both the figures, imv -- Ab207 (talk) 14:01, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

@Grabup I mean I understand your point of view, but previous discussions on the Wikipedia Reliable Source lists Asiannet as a reliable source, and MBV's as not reliable. I believe that since for over two weeks noone other than MBV reported figures for KGF, and hence his figures were used. Besides MBV's figures have historically had discrepancy with other reported sources, including for films like Beast, RRR and Sarkari Vaari Pata as well. Not to insult anyone and with respect, this is a totally unnecessary discussion. Because we're here arguing for nothing. Both India Today and Asianet News are same as reliable. But Asianet has an advantage over the India Today because India Today publishes the numbers from a 3rd party platform. Which is from Twitter (a social media). This may be a scenario where the infobox and lead has a range and the box office section attributes the various numbers to the sources. I would also caution to remember that Wikipedia is WP:NOTNEWS, so worrying about day-to-day changes when after a few months there is more likely to be consensus among sources can be counter-productive.
