Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

[edit]Lede
[edit]- is a non-commercial educational radio station - can we avoid the three links next to each other? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Removed a link.
- 501(c)(3) organization - is this important to the lede? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- In that donations are tax-deductible, yes.
- I feel like we could say that without a very complicated word and link. Still not sure I understand why it having tax-free donations is a defining feature of this station. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 07:42, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski: Changed to read simply non-profit. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:32, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

- Eclectic is a hell of a word to have without a link - how is it eclectic? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- EMP isn't use again in lede. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- This makes sense now. Good to know I should define terms like this separately when needed.
- Whether you HAVE to do this is likely debatable... But I also like links in both lede and body. I'd recommend it as having to go all the way back to the lede to find what an acronym or link is for is quite the track as a reader. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 07:31, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

General
[edit]- laboratory for training communications - laboratory is likely the wrong word. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Reworded
- As a result, four UW undergraduates. - we need to redefine "UW" for the body. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- noncommercial - hyphen Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Added, though I note the FCC sometimes doesn't use it!
- Old turntables from a northwest Washington radio station, an old transmitter being discarded by KNHC at Nathan Hale High School as it was upgrading its own facilities, and a $2,500 grant from the Board of Regents, as well as hours of manual labor in retrofitting a third-floor room in the building, erecting a transmitter tower atop McMahon Hall, and manually upgrading a telephone line to send audio from the Communications Building to the facility[6]—were all used in getting KCMU on the air on May 10, 1972.[ - this is somehow one sentence. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Split.
- rhythm that would define its history; puff. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- KZAM (1540 AM), - do we need the radio number? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- This link is through-written for a reason—it wasn't the only KZAM in the area (KZAM-FM). I through-write links when confusion of this type may result. There is one other link of this type for the same reason.
- stereo broadcasts - is there a suitable link? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- 1981–1982 - 1981–82. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Left as is; see MOS:DATERANGE.
- "very sympathetic to local bands" even before the rise of grunge and already had a requirement that a local band must be played at least once every hour[19]: 18 —found itself at the center of a budding new music scene in more ways than one beginning in the mid-1980s. In - what does grunge have to do with it? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Everything! But also...removing that does make that a shorter aside.
- The decision caused an outcry and led KCMU supporters to organize as CURSE - reword, this sentence doesn't mean much without the brackets. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Reworded to put the abbreviation in brackets
- The people section is very hollow - I don't get what it is. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Someone added that later after I brought this up to standard. Moved the link to the remaining page not linked elsewhere, Riz Rollins, and removed. With a few more entries, I'd consider a Notable presenters section here. This is less common with US stations than UK stations.
Review meta comments
[edit]- I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:20, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
