About recent changes
[edit]In the last days, Mariedelacour has added a lot of information to this article. Adding information is good, but it must satisfy Wikipedia's standards. Unfortunately, there seems to be several problems. I list some of them here:
- The repeated insistence that the school is located in Paris is plain wrong. Its web page makes it clear that there are two main campuses, Bordeaux and Marseille. Apparently, there are lots of smaller campuses as well (Toulon, Bastia, Paris, Bayonne, Dakar etc.). Cherry-picking Paris from these does not seem to be supported by the facts.
- Mariedelacour appears to treat KEDGE as the continuation of Euromed. That too seems contrary to facts. This school is a merger of two previous schools, both of which appear to be equally important. Telling the story of KEDGE by just telling the story of Euromed in the introduction seems misleading.
- The source used to claim KEDGE is the oldest business school in France is clearly wrong. To start with ESCP is a French Business school founded in 1819, so a school founded more than 50 years later cannot be the oldest. And again, this storytelling seems to confused KEDGE with Euromed. There can be a section in the text on the history of Euromed and the history of BEM, but the introduction needs to deal with KEDGE, not Euromed or BEM.
- Mariedelacour has inserted a lot of promotional claims. Mean as custard and I have removed most of it. This article should be a factual article about KEDGE, any claim not backed up by reliable sources will be removed.
- I very much doubt this vague claim belongs in the introduction "The policy of the school is to send nearly 100% of its classes to foreign universities for a term or a year ; accordingly, it has hundreds of international partnerships (joint degrees, exchange programmes,...) with major global universities (HEC Montreal, Indian Institute of Management, Saint-Gallen, SDA Bocconi, University of Michigan,...)" It might be placed in the text, when properly written, but does not seem relevant for the introduction.
- The whole section KEDGE_Business_School#Background in unclear and not written in proper English. There are no wikilinks and no sources.
- The sections on both BEM and EuroMed seems to have been copy-pasted without proper editing. Both sections use the present tense where the past tense obviously is more appropriate as neither school exist anymore.
- Can a source be provided that the name (Kedge, école de commerce et management) is an official name? I have found no such source.
- The section on research, just like the other sections, seems to be just copy-pasted and contains no sources and no links.
All in all, this article is in an appalling state right now and gives a very poor impression of KEDGE Business School. It does not meet Wikipedia's requirements for an article. The school is clearly notable, so an AfD is out of the question, but major improvements would be needed to make this a proper Wikipedia article. If Mariedelacour is interested in there being a good Wikipedia article about Kedge, it might be an idea to look at articles about other French business schools. The articles ESCP Europe, HEC Paris and Skema Business School are examples of how to write a proper Wikipedia article.Jeppiz (talk) 13:21, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Extension
[edit]Last time I wrote here, three years ago, it was to counter excessive promotion of the school. We now have the opposite problem, with some new users (ab)using Wikipedia to further a campaign. Apparently there is some local disagreement over an extension. Not sure whether that is really WP:DUE or not. Even if it were, the language used by these SPAs is rather biased, does not conform to their own sources, contain purely speculative claims, and ignore opposing views expressed in the same sources. It's a rather classic example of WP:POV and of cherrypicking among sources. Again, this is an encyclopaedia with information about the business school. It's not the place either to promote it or attack it. Jeppiz (talk) 13:38, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
Need improvements
[edit]The article needs to be improved by sources, removing promotional content. I was working on it when TheSandDoctor removed everything. I have send him a request to continue. I was working to write a new student association section. Please find it below. 92.184.96.8 (talk) 21:54, 18 February 2020 (UTC) (==Marketing Méditerranée== KEDGE Business School has student associations. One of them, « Marketing Méditerranée », is the most awarded junior-entreprise in Europe which offer a consulting service[1].)
- This source looks like some sort of promotional flyer or press release, hardly a reliable source. I would suggest declining this apparent edit request. Waggie (talk) 22:00, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- The problem is I cannot work on the article...But I think I am going to stop because it is very painful to improve an article on Wikipedia. Now we have two boxes in the article 😁. Crazy !. 92.184.96.8 (talk) 22:02, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- I've removed the second infobox, I agree that it was a problem. I was focused primarily on the promotional, unsourced, and blatantly false content that had been placed in there, and your mistaken efforts to restore it distracted me from being able to improve the other aspects of it. If you have content that you'd like added, that is summarized from a reliable source, please provide it and we can discuss it. Waggie (talk) 22:06, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- You are so funny my friend. I see you use Wikipedia to play and relax. Enjoy, take care. 92.184.96.8 (talk) 22:10, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- I'm here to improve the encyclopedia. That is my goal. Not sure what is funny about that. Waggie (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- I don’t think so. I was working on the article, checking line by line an taking time and you destroyed 3 or 4 times everything to finally do things I was doing. It is not professional at all, I see you like to fight and play. Enjoy. 92.184.100.76 (talk) 22:14, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
