"Fox" or "FOX"?
[edit]I noticed some revert wars regarding the Fox branding on several articles on Fox-owned stations. The official name of the network is not all uppercase, but that is how the company prefers it.
So, do we call it "Fox" or "FOX"? You decide. CoolKatt number 99999 02:23, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Fox, definitely. The MOS on trademarks says: "Follow our usual text formatting and capitalization rules even if the trademark owner encourages special treatment." -- Gridlock Joe 02:29, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
News Operation Format Suggestion
[edit]I edited KXII and KTEN's news anchors section, and also a few other articles. it is in the format of a Wikitable, instead of listing information one after the other. I think that the traditional format can get to be very cluttered and confusing since a lot of information is left out.
Example:
This is what the format in KDFW is now.
- Person Name - person's position at KDFW (Span 1990-2000; now weekday anchor/reporter at some other station in Anytown, USA)
This is what I am suggesting:
Name: | Before KDFW: | Presition(s) Held: | Span: | Now At: |
---|---|---|---|---|
John Q. Anchor | WFOR-TV; WSVN | Reporter/Producer, Denison Newsroom | 1988-1998 | KJTL |
And yes, I used the alumni/past personalities as an example, because that is where this new format would be very helpful. It would make sense to include the current on-air talent as well. The "Now At:" would not be included and the Span would be replaced with: "Joined KDFW On:".
Example:
What it looks like now:
- John Q. Anchor - weeknights at 5:30, 6 and 9PM
What it could look like:
Name: | Present Position(s): | Previous Position(s): | Joined KDFW On: |
---|---|---|---|
John Q. Anchor | Weekdays at 5, 6, & 10 | KXII; KFOR | February 1, 2009 |
I did not ask about editing KXII and KTEN. There have not been any objections. While I update their pages frequently, sometimes I miss a few updates, and some other Editor or IP User updates it before me. Whoever these people are, they do not have any objections. They update in the same format.
I figured there are more viewers of KDFW, and more editors of KDFW. If I put in another format, these editors might object and reverse my edits.
Are There Any Objections???????????? Let me know, and explain why. I will start:
I am for this new format (actually for all local news sections of broadcast station articles, not just KDFW) because it would better organize the information about the personalities, especially for the alumni/former talent/past personalities section.

Something Else:
Another reason to put in a new format: look at KJTL!! I put the old format on the talk page, because I am about to edit that page. I thought all the formats were the same...dispayed in a list instead of a wikitable. But KJTL's old format looks different, and confusing. There really should be a new format for all local news sections on broadcast station articles. In-Correct (talk) 12:15, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I have thought of another idea. It might take an entire year, but for those television stations with local news, there will be new colors. Blue will be for Fox stations. I will begin with them. Green will be NBC, Red will be CBS, and Yellow will be ABC. Something like that. PBS can be purple (or perhaps pink), CW can be orange, and independent stations can be brown. Now I have to figure out how to apply these colors.

Okay I am not going to do that anymore. I even deleted my suggestions because I gave up when somebody thought they had a better idea and said that my layout was "Clunky". I am not going to add a new format to KDFW or any other article. But I am keeping this discussion, which is what I should have done...waited for responses to my suggestion before revising articles. Since there weren't any, I added my suggestion to the articles. And some of them have not had the formats reversed. But KDFW has.... I am going to keep my suggestion here. And also I think that these discussion pages are useful for suggestions. If anybody disagrees with them, they should be made here instead of editing and saying that it is Clunky.
AND I don't think that the Clarice Tinsley article should exist. It does not contain any information other than what can't be put in a table.

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material
[edit]Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in this article. Not including this type of material in articles abides by current consensus and is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:
- WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
- As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
- WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
- Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.
If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). thanks Deconstructhis (talk) 16:42, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Fiona Gorostiza
[edit]I am going to add "also fill in weather anchor" to Fiona Gorostiza. She has done weathercasts in 2013 when one (and later two) of the other anchors were unavailable.
If it is reverted, I guess it is no big deal. She is leaving KDFW. In Correct (talk) 02:08, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Why is the on air staff missing?!
[edit]In Correct (talk) 06:08, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
- Lists of people must meet the criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. This isn't the first station article this has been discussed on, and articles have been protected to prevent these additions, or the editors in question blocked when they persistently continue to reinsert inappropriate material. If a name is included in the article in this way, it has to show that it's relevant to the subject by meeting WP:LISTPEOPLE. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well, and other station articles needing similar cleanup doesn't mean this one doesn't need to be cleaned up, because whenever it's actually discussed on a station article, the end result is the same; the names that don't meet WP:LISTPEOPLE are removed. Wikipedia is also not a directory. See below as those are previous discussions concerning the on-air staff. Also, there is a current discussion being discussed here. Channel 4.2 was added to KDFW. Could someone add it in here please?
[edit]Channel 4.2 carrying the Decades TV Network was added to the on-air programming of KDFW. The info is confirmed in the WP "Decades" entry. Should this be added to KDFW? I'm new to WP editing and unsure how to make this kind of change considering the right-hand sidebar. CRT Hobbyist (talk) 14:23, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
