Promotional? COI?

[edit]

This article seems rather promotional, which would probably be explained by this elance request posted the day before this was written. ThemFromSpace 08:38, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm the primary author of this page. Themfromspace wrote on my talk page, so I figured I would respond here. I had absolutely no idea that there was a request out there that the page be written. I wrote this page because I've been very active in writing about articles related to the TV show Parks and Recreation (you can see my user page for some of those contributions) and I wrote the page about the episode Kaboom (Parks and Recreation), just as I've written the pages for all 26 (so far) P&R episodes. The organization was featured in that episode, and I thought they sounded interesting, so I wrote the page up. I'm not involved in the organization at all, don't know anybody involved with it. I didn't know about the posting, nor did I collect any compensation for writing this article. The timing of the posting is an incredible coincidence, but that's all it is: a coincidence. (Although I do want to point out WP:AFG here, I bear no grudge against Themfromspace for suspecting I had some sort of COI interest. The timing would have made me suspicious as well.) If you'll look at my userpage, I think you'll see I have a pretty significant record of contributions; it's not as if I started an account just to make this page. Plus, the article is thoroughly sourced. If the prose of the article needs rewording in order to make it seem less promotional, please point out some examples and I'll work on them. But otherwise, I will likely remove the promotional tag in a few days, because there was no COI in the writing of this article. — Hunter Kahn 16:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the explanation. The timing is still odd, to be sure, but I'll AGF and remove the COI tag. The major "promotional" aspect is that it seems like a play-by-play account of the organisation's history as told by every media appearance it has made, instead of an overall summary of who they are. But there's no individual statements that are especially glowing, just an impression from the general flow of the article. ThemFromSpace 20:14, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Darell Hammond

[edit]

I deleted the Darell Hammond material, since there is an entire article devoted to that subject and this material was just redundant.   Will Beback  talk  09:40, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
