Promotional content.
[edit]@The American Farmer: Hello. I've again removed the content. I briefly looked over the article before, but just because I did not remove something then content doesn't mean that it's now acceptable forever. Your recent edits brought it to my attention on my watchlist. Since the article's promotional problems were getting worse, not better, I decided to make some more drastic changes to steer it in the right direction. If you would like to discuss those changes, please do so. Grayfell (talk) 04:02, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Film music
[edit]Despite the claim in Chart's EPK, I have not been able to locate any primary sources that show Chart composed music for Full Metal Jacket—he's not listed anywhere in film's or soundtrack's credits. Can someone provide details? 66.209.91.155 (talk) 00:21, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Regarding Justin's musical catalog
[edit]Hi User:Njd-de and User:FMSky.
Thanks for your assistance in crafting the page in the direction thus far!
I notice that you have removed the table I created, which included Justin Chart's albums, tracklist, and release years compiled into one convenient table. [[1]]
With the reasoning being "excessive list" and "not needed." I am just curious as to what grounds is it acceptable to rule such information as not needed? In my opinion, the discography surrounding a signed musician would be somewhat relevant as this is what they are principally known for. Perhaps there are some guidelines to ruling something as excessive or irrelevant that you could point me to for further reading?
I have noticed other artists have had extensive lists of other music catalogs on their Wikipedia pages with no issue.
For instance, I am a HUGE fan of Justin Hayward, so I often refer to [his Wikipedia page] for tidbits of information. This page has a section for Hayward's albums and also a section for his songs (aka compositions). The latter states the album where each song is featured... maybe a bit redundant, but it does not bother me or seem to bother anyone else.
With Justin Chart's page, I made just one table putting the songs and albums into one convenient table to avoid the redundancy observed in the previous version.
Hayward is a world-renowned artist whose Wikipedia page has an extensive version of history. His discography volume is also quite similar to Justin Chart's. Is there something I am missing here?
Please review the [page] and let me know what details I am missing in the discography table I made for Chart to prevent it from being deemed "excessive" or "unnecessary." If anything, I would say the table I made was reductive rather than excessive, but I am not knowledgable on every single Wikipedia guideline there is, so it would be help if you clarified the guidelines for me since you seem to be more knowledgable on this.
There's a lot of great information that this page is missing so my goal is get it up to date with the all this info in an objective, non-promotional manner. The discography is a great play to start. Much appreciated! --Corporation Solutions (talk) 20:28, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Corporation Solutions: It already has every album listed though? Why the need to include a track list for every album? That isn't usually done in other articles. It usually only lists the names of the albums and sometimes singles, if they were released separately. FMSky (talk) 23:28, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @FMSky: Is there a rule or a parameter that states an artists' Wikipedia page may not include the tracklist for their albums? Or is this just your personal preference? Please see the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Hayward as referenced earlier. A large amount of the songs listed in the Compositions sections refer to tracks from albums listed from the Albums section.
- If this were a physical leather-bound encyclopedia I could surely see how limiting certain information might be a pragmatic approach. But this is virtual space, right? So I'm not sure there's a particular reason to abridge practical and relevant information. --Corporation Solutions (talk) 20:31, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Regarding hasty content removals
[edit]@FMSky: Why did you put the Humanitarian and charitable information back under the Personal Life section? Can you please indicate which sources state that this is considered part of Justin Chart's personal life? I've reviewed all the sources and again and I see no commentary on this being personal life. Some musicians do charity for personal reasons, of course. But others does it for PR and good press... I'm not saying that Justin Chart participates in charity/humanitarian causes for performative reasons, but your edit makes the lofty assumption that his participation in these activities is in fact "personal". Unless you can provided a credible source where it states that this is "personal", it's reasonable to give this information in its own separate category. Please advise. --Corporation Solutions (talk) 20:42, 21 January 2022 (UTC) ing
- Hey User:FMSky and User:Njd-de , thanks again for helping to maintain the page. Just wanted to circle back on this as it's been a few days. Could we please get a response on the items I've raised issues about? I noticed someone flagged the page for edits possibly having [of Interest]. I just want to reiterate that I only wish to make contributions that fall within objective fact and steer clear of bias or being promotionally driven. Hoping to get the page up to snuff with this in mind. Can you please get back to me soon regarding the various point under scrutiny? Thank you! --64.125.142.138 (talk) 05:40, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Birth date information
[edit]Hi everyone, I have recently been in touch with the artist himself that is the subject of this page, and he informed me he does not want his birth date information publicized. Hopefully this can remain the case. Thanks. Bdavid1111 (talk) 20:44, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- It will not remain the case. Chart's birth date is not given as you claim; the citation—which is reliably sourced from The Los Angeles Times—is for a two-year birth year range for a public figure (see WP:DOB). Do not remove this information again unless you are prepared to cite a reliable source (WP:RS) contradicting it. Rift (talk) 21:13, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Promotional editing and notability
[edit]There appear to be numerous single-purpose accounts editing this page with promotional material. Recently, BBWritersInc has been reverting my addition of a notability tag to the page. This account has made 7 edits, all to this page, and the account's name looks like they represent a company as well. I think the article needs additional sourcing to demonstrate the notability of the article subject. – notwally (talk) 09:31, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
