[edit]Jus Patronatus survived in most of Reformation Europe. Lay, especially noble, control of church benefices was important in the Churches of England and Scotland, throughout Lutheran Scandinavia and Germany, and in Reformed Switzerland. This article should incorporate this history, or else a separate page should be started.
The German version of this page is more comprehensive.
