Fair use rationale for Image:NS logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:NS logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Jurong East MRT stationJurong East railway station – Reflects the HSR station being built with the same name, and matches the naming scheme with Bandar Malaysia. The page as a whole can be moved, or a new page can be created for the HSR line (may cause confusion) Hi1307 (talk) 15:13, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - The HSR station and the MRT station are at different locations; the HSR station is to be constructed at the former Jurong Country Club, a distance from the MRT station. If they were the same location, I may have supported the move. However, since they are different, the MRT station page should remain as it is along with other MRT stations. As for the HSR station, it can be named either Jurong East railway station or Jurong East HSR station, the former being in line with Bandar Malaysia railway station naming, the latter to differentiate with the MRT station. I do not prefer the former, as Bandar Malaysia is a MRT-HSR station while Jurong East HSR is purely a HSR station. Marcnut1996 (talk) 03:07, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - For the same reasons as provided by Marcnut1996 robertsky (talk) 00:33, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Strong Oppose as per what Marcnut1996 has rightly pointed out, the MRT station and HSR station are only related by name, and combining the two into the same article would cause even more confusion than creating a new page for the HSR station. Furthermore the HSR project has been postponed till 2020 and i suggest we wait until then before taking further action regarding the HSR related articles. 1.02 editor (C651 set 217/218) 11:33, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

With copy changes done, just a question about ref [8] and a suggestion to improve [93]. That's it. Ping when done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 16:13, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did [93] but I don't know about [8]. Jurong East is on the Clementi-Lakeside stretch. I think the source could either be replaced with another one or elaborate on it. You'll get pinged once it's done. What do you think @ZKang123? --Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 03:34, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think there should be a map somewhere, but then I just added ref 7 which showed the segment of Clementi-Lakeside which include Jurong.--ZKang123 (talk) 06:49, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that should be sufficient enough. What about you @Sammi Brie? Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 12:25, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you — I've been super busy with RL matters. The map in the added source solves my problem. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 13:49, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

Copy changes

[edit]
  • and would be built maybe "to be built" to avoid WP:INTOTHEWOULDS
  • Jurong Town station was renamed to Jurong in September 1984, and later renamed to Jurong East in March 1987. Try the less verbose Jurong Town station was renamed to Jurong in September 1984 and to Jurong East in March 1987.
  • Maybe "brought forward" instead of "pushed earlier" or "pushed forward"?
  • An opening ceremony was held at the station to inaugurate 6.4-kilometre (4.0 mi) MRT extension missing an article (a or the) after "inaugurate"
  • installation half-height platform screen doors missing "of"
  • fully-automatic generally, adverbs do not get hyphenated
  • branch line consisting of 7 stations spell out seven
  • However, the restrictions on construction due to the COVID-19 pandemic has not "restrictions ... has" — should be "have"
  • Maybe spell out "NSEWL"
  • Surrounding landmarks of the station include: Remove unnecessary colon.
  • "Entitled as" should just be "Entitled"

Did the above changes.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:07, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]
  • 8: I don't see a mention of Jurong in the Clementi–Lakeside stretch article. Does another article have it?
  • 31 and 32: Suspensions of train service for JEMP. checkY
  • 34: CNA story on 27 May planned opening of platform. checkY
  • 48: LTA release: LTA, together with our public transport operators, have been conducting Exercise Station Guard since February 2018 to validate our security measures, contingency plans and operational readiness at public transport nodes during heightened security situations. checkY
  • 51: 1998 Straits Times article on study of Jurong region line. checkY
  • 60: COVID-19 has unfortunately affected the progress of the construction of the JRL, because of manpower crunch, disruption to supplies and the need for strict safe management measures at work sites. The estimated delay is about a year, which means that JRL will now open in phases from 2027 to 2029. checkY
  • 61: Award of contract to Daelim. checkY (Add a publisher to the metadata)
  • 78: J-Walk map guidelines (one of the pages has an actual map). checkY

Can we get an actual title on 93 instead of a file name?

Earwig catches some names of places and stations as well as "contract for the construction of", hardly original.

  • Claiming this for review and hope to get to this within the next few days. For what it's worth I like the hook and think it's interesting. I've made some copyedits to the hook such as linking and bolding. Given that the nominator is Imbluey2 and not ZKang123, no QPQ is necessary. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:43, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article was promoted to GA status on time and I didn't find any close paraphrasing (the 34.6% figure Earwig gives is a false positive). No QPQ is needed for Imbluey2 as nominator (had ZKang123 done the nom, a QPQ would have been required). The hook is interesting and cited inline. My only concern is a minor one: the article/hook and the source do not fully agree. The article says that Yao proposed discos, but the newspaper source said a disco. That may need to be clarified. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:54, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The newspaper said a reoccurring disco in the station. It should be added to the hook as "it was proposed for the Jurong East MRT station in Singapore to host a reoccurring disco party to increase its vibrancy?". Maybe modify the "reoccuring" part since it doesn't really flow well imo. Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 13:49, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Narutolovehinata5? Can we continue with the DYK nomination? Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 23:56, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still waiting for the discrepancy to be resolved. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:00, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Narutolovehinata5 fixed the DYK hook to "a recurring disco" since the newspaper source said that it was proposed for people to host a disco. Yeo's quote of justifying his proposal implied that the disco would recurring ("maybe in the evenings", evenings in this context implies reccurance imo). Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 10:49, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know. The source doesn't outright say "recurring", and while one could argue that the meaning is implied, the lack of a direct support from the source probably makes that specific wording unsafe. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:19, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just to follow-up, the article and hook still need to match the source before this can be approved.

Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:25, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I've been busy the past few days and forgot about this. Anyways, I was wondering if it's possible to get a third party to comment on this matter? It's unclear what the news article meant so I think we should get someone else's oponion.Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 15:00, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Trainsandotherthings and SounderBruce: Would it be okay if either of you take a look at this and give feedback on the hook sourcing and wording? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:43, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for the ping. Based on my interpretation of the source, the person proposing the disco wanted to hold it in the evenings (plural) which implies a recurring event. That's just my reading of the source, so I don't claim to be objectively correct. I've placed this discussion on my watchlist for a month, so I'm happy to help out further if needed. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 14:20, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, I'm still waiting for @SounderBruce:'s response. In the meantime, I agree with Trainsandotherthings's interpretation. Or I could propose another DYK for this article.Imbluey2. Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 02:52, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
