@Bob3458: I've reverted your deletion. Your reason in the edit summary doesn't support deleting the content ("Deleted the quote about her being a Scientologist and a Christian, since she doesn’t identify as the former anymore it doesn’t really make any sense to include it"). Scientology has always publicly claimed that one can be a Scientologist AND some-other-religion at the same time. It's false; it's just PR so as not to scare away potential new members. In practice, if you stay in Scientology, they will push you to stop all "other practices" (their term for anything that is not-Scientology).
That Juliette Lewis said those words, means on the surface that she might be pulling away from Scientology (it's not diffinitive) but that she won't outright renounce it (a risky move considering her familial and career connections). Lewis' quote defends Scientology, promotes its techniques, and downplays known criticism. She also doesn't denounce being a Scientologist while suggesting she can be both Christian and a Scientologist. In my opinion, just reading that statement, tells me she's still a Scientologist.
I've been watching your editing strategy, Bob3458, and it seems to be to remove from BLPs all mention of any involvement in Scientology wherever you can get away with it. Knock it off. Grorp (talk) 00:42, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In my defence, the article that quote came from was from 2010 and the article where she seems to distance herself from Scientology is from late 2021 so I think its a bit of a stretch to say she is still a member of the church.
And yes you are right that it isn't definitive she has left since she isn't denouncing it but it also seems very likely she wants no association with it either.
@Bob3458: Fair enough. I went through the "personal life" section and checked/updated all the citations, added a new one, and rewrote it a bit to put it in chronological order and downplay what had become more than suggestive in wikivoice that she might have left Scientology. I never got from the sources that she had left scientology — a lot of sidestepping, though. She's definitely a character that marches to her own drummer.
