Birthdate

Oct.10th 1962

An editor here, claiming to be a relation of the article subject, says we have the birth year wrong by a decade. Unfortunately, the only source we have for this puts her in the Miss Universe pageant at what would be, according to this editor, an age of 12 or 13. I'd like to see better sourcing to establish whether the news article is simply mistaken (and somehow predicted her appearance in a beauty pageant a decade in advance), or whether MU let a preteen into the contest, or ... in any case, I'd like to understand the disconnect better. --j⚛e deckertalk 19:47, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

As to taking out the birthdate without a source--I think that's a good call. Thanks.  :) --j⚛e deckertalk 04:08, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

This article is up for deletion. Also I can confirm the person in question birthdate is Oct. 10 1962.

Please delete this article. This is not a celebrity and the article is being edited by a family member. Most of the content is not even about her,but her family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaylatiger23 (talkcontribs) 19:04, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Please don't delete this article, Julia Mora is indeed a celebrity. And in regards to the comments from the user above insisting that Julia Mora is not well known, and that she was born in 1962. I don't think her date of birth really matter on here. 1962 sounds like it could be correct and yet as a person directly involved in beauty pageants I can tell you that at least in those years some participants in the Miss Universe contest were as young as 16 years old, and I am pretty sure that that was Miss Argentina 1985, and the oldest would have been 27 years old, that is a decade right there. You could leave 1962 but it could be miss representing Julia. On the other hand we have someone here asking for the article to be deleted claiming that Julia Mora is not a celebrity and that it is a family member editing the article. I think that before making a statement like that we first need to get familiar with such term. According to Wikipedia, this is the meaning of the word celebrity:

Celebrity - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity Celebrity refers to the fame and public attention accorded by the mass media to individuals or groups or, occasionally, animals, but is usually applied to the persons or groups of people (celebrity couples, families, etc.) themselves who receive such a status of fame and attention. In that case , Julia is a celebrity. I can bring pictures of well know magazines where she has appeared. The National Enquirer, Vanidades, TV y Novelas, Mira, just to name a few. Interviews from reliable sources on Youtube, for example, Azteca America (a Latin TV station in Los Angeles, CA), HC Noticias, etc. Julia Mora recently made headlines on The National Enquirer because of an alleged romance with Poncharello (The star of CHIPs, Eric Estrada) that right there gives her a celebrity status by itself. I was just reviewing other articles here on Wikipedia about other Miss El Salvador and they have poor sources or none, but only Julia Mora is nominated for deletion? How is that possible? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irma_Dimas

Name variations

Here are some of the name variations I have seen so far:

  • Julia Mora
  • Julia Haydee Mora Maza
  • Julia Haydee Mora
  • Julia Haydee Mora Alfaro

Softlavender (talk) 00:22, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

  • Julia Mora
  • Julia Haydee Mora Maza
  • Julia Haydee Mora
  • Julia Haydee Mora Alfaro
  • Julia Mora Andrisani (past edits indicate she was married to a Alejandro Andrisani in 2008)
  • Julia Mora Peters or Peterson (past edits indicate she was married to a Dennis Peterson in 1988 and divorced in 1990.
  • date of birth October 10th 1962

Not sure why someone keeps writing I am jealous? I am sure Mora is a great person, but some editor keeps writing she is 10 years younger than the 1985 Miami Herald indicates. The radar online video said she was the mother of one child. In a youtube video entitled Julia Mora her life exposed,it chronicles a marriage ceremony to a Alejandro Andrisani.

Just to clarify, I never nominated this page for deletion,i simply said the phantom editor/sock puppet that keeps editing with fake birthdates, etc needs to be blocked. I was suggesting the page be locked, not deleted.

It would be great if Miss El Salvador could publish a video in Spanish with English sub titles detailing all her romantic realationships, marriages and any children. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daquan7474 (talkcontribs) 01:45, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

We can clearly see on this page that someone is asking to "please" have Julia Mora's page deleted. This same person has been "bullying" Miss El Salvador, Julia Mora for years, and deleting important and relevant links that prove that indeed see is a celebrity from EL Salvador. That tells us that his/her pleads have a hidden motivation. To me it is clear that he or she is a hater, perhaps he or she is very jealous of Julia, like it happens to other celebrities. Why would you delete her page when she is notorious not only from her participation in the Miss Universe contest but for being a TV personality at Telemundo Network, radio shows, etc. Her real name is Julia Haydee Mora Maza, but she opted for a stage name Julia Mora. As far as her date of birth we don't know for sure, she could have been born in 62, 65, 69 or whatever but I don't think we have the right to make that decision. I am not a family member but a huge fan. If necessary I can provide with my name, email address and phone number. I just defend Julia from haters, that is all, I am a very fair person. IMDB listing

The subject's IMDB listing should be present in the external links section in the article. Lacypaperclip (talk) 08:38, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Not when this tawdry non-professional three-minute nothing is the only thing on it: [6]. I am removing the IMDB link again. Do not re-add it without consensus. -- Softlavender (talk) 08:46, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Your opinion about the IMDB listing is not really relevant. You are being disruptive for not allowing an article to be expanded or improved. If only one film is listed, it can certainly be listed in an article of an actress. What is the reason you are being so biased about the Julia Mora article Softlavender? The article states she is a former model and actress, yet you remove legitimate categories when they are correctly being added to the article. Your actions here at the article, as well as the AFD are purely disruptive. Do not even attempt to tell me what to do or not do. Lacypaperclip (talk) 09:03, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
What is relevant is WP:EL. The only reason IMDB links are used in ELs is in compliance with "Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject and cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to ... amount of detail (such as ... movie or television credits ...) ...." Since she has no professional movie or television credits, and the only item on her IMDB listing is a truly embarrassing three-minute non-professional short that never aired or screened anywhere (it was released only on the internet [7]), it not only does not apply, it also violates WP:ELBLP "In biographies of living persons, material available solely in questionable sources or sources of dubious value should be handled with caution, and, if derogatory, should not be used at all, either as sources or via external links. External links in biographies of living persons must be of high quality and are judged by a higher standard than for other articles. Do not link to websites that are not fully compliant with this guideline or that contradict the spirit of WP:BLP." (bolding mine) -- Softlavender (talk) 09:20, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Not sure how not allowing an IMDB external link really prevents the article from being improved. IMDB is a questionable source being user-generated. Galobtter (pingó mió) 09:24, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
I see the tag-teaming has begun. Lacypaperclip (talk) 09:32, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Not sure what you mean by that. Like me, Galobtter has had this article on his watch list, and like me, he is an independent adult with a mind of his own. Unfounded accusations of tag-teaming are, however, personal attacks, and thus a violation of a Wikipedia policy. Softlavender (talk) 09:37, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Well, I guess it is just a coincidence them hmmm, anyone that searches the contributions of myself Softlavender, and Galobttr all within a one hour period can certainly draw their own conclusions. [8] It was not an accusation, but it was certainly not unfounded. Stop and leave me alone! Lacypaperclip (talk) 09:43, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
IMDB links, like any other user-generated site, are generally not allowed on BLPs per WP:EL and this has been the case for many years. Don't forget that a large number of editors will probably have this article on their watchlists at the moment as it is at AFD and any editor familiar with policy would have removed it.
