Academic history
[edit]I had to remove the statement that 'Gasper obtained a D.Phil. in English Literature from Somerville College, Oxford' because it was unreferenced, I couldn't find any independent sources for it, and given the recent incident with Natasha Bolter (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2872325/Little-Miss-Fantasist-s-Ukip-candidate-sparked-uproar-accusing-party-boss-sexually-harassing-One-problem-investigation-reveals-s-hard-believe-word-says.html) another UKIPite whose claim to have studied PPE at Oxford was publicly denounced by the college in question, I think it is prudent enough to remove this statement until it can be proven by verifiable info. If you disagree with this, please state your opinion here before reverting any edits.Rayman60 (talk) 16:19, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
I have put the statement about Julia Gasper's English D.Phil. at Somerville back: she definitely has one. Hint to anyone uncertain about an Oxford D.Phil.: just search the Bodleian Library catalogue for the thesis, and you will also get the bonus of the date and subject. I have added a reference to this catalogue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.110.181.49 (talk) 08:59, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Nitpicking time: Degrees are awarded by the University, not its constituent colleges. I'll tweak the lead to reflect this. --Ef80 (talk) 13:43, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

I'm amazed, why won't anyone take up such a beautiful article? Well, I will! Sainsf (talk · contribs) 15:18, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
No dablinks, no copyvio detected. Fairly well-written, only a few comments: Sainsf (talk · contribs) 06:34, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- In the lead,
- Does this article not need an infobox?
- In an ideal world, this article would indeed have an infobox, however at present there is no publicly available information with regards to when or where Gasper was born, no freely available image of her face etc. That being the case, any infobox would be so scanty that I don't think that it would even be worth including. Hopefully further information about Gasper will be revealed in future, allowing for the addition of an infobox. Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sure there is no information about her early life? This would be a natural question. Perhaps you can add a note earlier in the lead clarifying that no such information is there in reliable sources?
- I've certainly not come upon any such information in the reliable sources. Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Pink News" should be in italics, here and in a place or two elsewhere in the article.
- Changed! Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- In "Academic career",
- You may want to write "twenty-six" (all of Dekker's twenty-six plays) in words so that it does not look very wordy. Also good per WP:MOSNUM.
- I'm a little confused here; "twenty-six" already does appear in words rather than numerals? Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:01, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- My bad, I meant digits. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 14:11, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Did you miss out adding sources for the third para?
- It looks like that paragraph was added by another editor after I originally submitted the article to GAN. Given that there are no references cited, I shall remove this paragraph for now. Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:59, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- In "Political activity",
- and being insufficiently grateful to heterosexuals for creating them I see some overciting after this line.
- I've removed two of the four citations here. Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:18, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Wikilink paedophilia
- I've added the link. Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Homophobic" is linked twice
- I've removed the second link. Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- It would be safe to add citations to Bibliography, though you mention the books earlier, just to ensure verifiability.
- Added! Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:39, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Any external links, portals or navboxes?
- I've added a few portals at the end of the article. Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:18, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
That should be it. Cheers, Sainsf (talk · contribs) 06:34, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Sainsf: Once more, many thanks for taking the time to conduct this GAN. Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:39, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Awesome! I am happy to promote this. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 15:05, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
