The accuracy of Hellman's memoirs has been questioned, though I'm not sure if that belongs in the article on the movie. -- Someone else 22:19 Dec 31, 2002 (UTC)
Nobody has ever been able to prove that Julia ever existed, from all I know. -- Zoe

MURIEL GARDINER CLAIMS THAT SHE IS THE ORIGINAL JULIA AND DISPUTES HELLMAN'S FICTIONALIZED MEMOIRS. THERE IS AN AMAZING PARALLEL BETWEEN BETWEEN GARDINER AND HELLMAN'S 'JULIA' (HELLMAN CLAIMS THE REAL NAME WAS ALICE) AND THERE IS NO VIABLE PROOF OFFERED BY HELLMAN FOR HER STORY. GARDINER HAS BEEN ABLE TO DOCUMENT HER VENTURES THROUGH EUROPE, HER INVOLVEMENT WITH THE SOCIALIST PARTY, ATTENDING OXFORD, HAVING ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY IN VIENNA, SMUGGLING AMERICAN PASSPORTS AND FUNDS IN A FUR HAT TO ASSIST THE UNDERGROUND, AND HAVING A CHILD WHILE IN EUROPE. HELLMAN'S NOTORIOUS REPUTATION FOR DRAMATICALLY STRETCHING THE TRUTH IN HER 'MEMOIRS' DISCREDITS THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE FILM 'JULIA' EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN OUTSTANDING FILM. IF FACT THE ONLY CORRELATION BETWEEN GARDINER AND HELLMAN IS THEY SHARED THE SAME PHYSICIAN WHILE IN EUROPE. BELIEVING FOR DECADES THAT THE AUTHENCITY OF 'JULIA' BEING A TRUE EVENT IN HELLMAN'S LIFE HAS BECOME A DISAPOINTMENT WITH THE RECENT REVELATION BY MURIEL GARDINER. SO MUCH FOR HELLMAN AND HER WORK. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.45.225 (talk) 18:43, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Julia imp.jpg
Image:Julia imp.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This film is a well-known plagiarized hoax. The story was stolen from the biography of another writer and was a major scandal back in the 1970s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.4.200.35 (talk) 04:32, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
