Loss of La Lilloise
[edit]The loss of La Lilloise was in a position far from that where de Blosseville's expedition was supposed to be. For the avoidance of doubt, the full entry from the Aberdeen Journal of 14 January 1846 is:-
- A private vessel from Dunkirk announces the finding, at Vanikoro Islands, in the archipelago of Santa Cruz, of the wreck of the French Government brig La Lilloise, which, more than twelve years ago, sailed from that port on a mission of scientific discovery, and of which no tidings have been received for several years past.
