[edit]I'm removing this sentence based on my reference (Dale's bilingual edition of Laforgue):
- By 1881 his literary career had become so busy that he did not return to Tarbes for his father's funeral.
How busy was his literary career in 1881? He may have been publishing a lot, but was he getting paid a lot? My source says that in 1881 Laforgue was leading a "fairly frugal bohemian existence" so Paul Bourget arranged for him a post, with Ephrussi's help, as a reader of French to the Empress Augusta. None of his major works were published in 1881, not his poetry collections or his novel, which was published posthumously. A from L.A. (talk) 13:58, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
