Untitled
[edit]I have visited http://www.mam.org/index.htm They had a very nice painting by Jules Bastien-Lepage that was not listed on wikipedia.
The Wood Gatherer, 1881. Oil on canvas. http://www.mam.org/collections/19thcentury_detail_lepage.htm
The painting is approx 6 feet high by almost 5 feet wide. The links do not do justice to the extreme detail of this painters work.
2007 exhibition in Paris
[edit]An exhibition is devoted to Jules Bastien-Lepage at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, from 6th March till 13th May 2007. The works will be on display at the World centre for peace of Verdun from 14th June till 3rd September 2007. Baronnet 13:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Influence
[edit]It is generally accepted that Bastien-Lepage was a major influence on the artists known as the Glasgow Boys (not all actually from Glasgow) and other British painters of the later 19th century. I don't have the time or expertise to write this up, but someone might take it on. There are several books on the Glasgow Boys, including the catalogue of a major exhibition a few years ago, which included works by B-L to show the influence.86.135.4.21 (talk) 21:37, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
