Someone changes this profile from Derry to LondonDerry.
As you can see from this persons profile, they are an Irish Catholic who does indeed come from County Derry, and was educated in all Catholic schools all his life and played professional Irish sports until he was drafted to the NFL.
Someone whom has British/ Protestant rearing has modified his profile and put protection on it, to state the British name of Londonderry.
There is ongoing sectarian unrest in Northern Ireland and this is someone trying to get a real dog on the personal profile. 2600:1700:4618:EEA0:1407:C0AA:CB9C:720A (talk) 20:48, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The decision on Wikipedia is to call the county by the name it was given when it was created, and not its colloquial name. Prior to being County Londonderry it was mostly County Coleraine, it's never been officially called County Derry. See WP:DERRY. That being said, the reference states quite clearly that he was born in Derry, not Swatragh, and per WP:IMOS we do not use the county with a city in Northern Ireland. However if there was a case to use the county name, it would be County Londonderry, not County Derry. Canterbury Tailtalk21:45, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
