Appointment to Commerce Secretary
[edit]I heard this from a mutual friend, so I can't add it to the article, but at least according to my source, Gregg won't accept the position, unless Governor Lynch appoints another Republican to take his place. As Gregg is currently down in the polls for the 2010 Election, this is EXTREMELY disheartening for the local Democrats! 71.233.230.223 (talk) 22:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know if Gov. Lynch will make this step, he could alienate the NH Dems and he is also up for re-election in 2010... Cassandro (talk) 23:25, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- id unno. This is probably an acurate thing so iwill go and look for sources. Smith Jones (talk) 01:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Gregg was never "down" in any polls...love where you Democrats get your incorrect info... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.216.149.70 (talk) 04:02, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Lottery
[edit]I heard someone meantion that Judd had won a lottery, and the article is in Category:Lottery winners, but there's no mention of lottery in the text. Randall Bart Talk 01:54, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Views on the Census
[edit]If the Senator's views on the Census were a major issue in his nomination as Commerce secretary, why doesn't this article include any of his views on the Census? FoamParty (talk) 17:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
TARP COI?
[edit]I removed
- In the Senate, Gregg was the leading Republican author of the TARP program (which bailed out financial institutions) while he had a multi-million dollar investment in the Bank of America.ref http://pfds.opensecrets.org/N00000444_2007.pdf /ref
The source appears to be the financial disclosure documents themselves. So there are issues that need to be addressed: has this been covered by independent reliable sources? Is it notable and worth including? I haven't looked into it in detail, but I'm confident that lots of senators and members of congress have stock holdings in banks directly and in mutual funds. So they could all be said have a COI. There have also been issues of bailing out particular banks that are political donors and well connected. Is there relevance that is noteworthy in a particular way to Gregg? Or would this be better covered in the TARP article? ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:47, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oops. Removed again thinking it was the same bit with the same source. But I see now it's sourced to a Chicago Tribune story. Thanks to Badagnani for reverting my error. I'm off to bed. Sorry about that. ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
This source discusses it somewhat [1] ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:36, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- The Hill described Gregg as a "the Senate Republicans' lead negotiator on the bailout bill" and later described him as a "key participant." [Gregg: Bailout Isn't Just An Exercise in Political Ideology http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/legislation/41995-gregg-bailout-isnt-just-an-exercise-in-political-ideology] 72.73.92.176 (talk) 04:41, 4 October 2009 (UTC)::
- Tabak's newspaper article and other sources describe Gregg as being not just the lead Republican negotiator but also the leading Republican author of the TARP program.Cgersten (talk) 13:15, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
What about Judd's birthplace? And a link to his "official" page in senate.gov? The first paragraph says he was born in Paris, France, while the biography paragraph says he was born in New Hampshire. The sidebar says Paris again, but there is not a word of how that happened nor how he came to New Hampshire from France. His US Senate web page says he was born in New Hampshire. Anewcharliega (talk) 19:46, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
My apologies for being such an amateur, I know this is in the wrong article or thread, but it's where I landed. I fixed the birthplace and residence issue mentioned above, and even hooked a link to Nashua, New Hampshire. This is just the second article I have ever edited and the other one was about four years ago, so thanks for the slack, Charlie Anewcharliega (talk) 20:24, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Interference with Spanish Justice system
[edit]Judd's entry deserves a subject very similar to this one for Mel Martinez, as he was also involved in diplomatic talks with Spanish officials to try to interfere with a warcrimes prosecution in Spanish judiciary targeting several high-level politicians and government officials in the Bush administration as indicated by a leaked Wikileaks diplomatic cable[1]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.2.162.78 (talk) 05:49, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've removed the section. The issue is that Wikipedia's text needs to be based on reliable secondary sources, not on primary sources such as wikileaks cables. You can rewrite this, relying on newspaper accounts of the cables, but you can't base it on the cables themselves. See WP:PRIMARY, WP:BLPPRIMARY and WP:NOR for more information about the relevant wikipedia policies. GabrielF (talk) 19:33, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- Please do not remove this section, if there is something that doesn't meet community standards then please work with me to improve it. I keep revising it to respond to your criticism but I fear you may just keep finding additional reasons to delete it. I have created a user, so please work with me on this. It should be noted that a similar section exists for Mel Martinez prior to my edits and similarly is appropriate here. Bailey carlson (talk) 01:15, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
