[edit]The content of this article is hard to verify indeed. Aside from mirror sites, the web is silent on his name. The source quoted is eminently respectable, and the story occupies a whole chapter in Carpentier's book. Carpentier's sources were the records of Santiago de C. and Havana Cathedrals, rather than books or journal articles. Other possible sources would include records of the Catholic Church in Germany or the Vatican. I do not intend to take this further myself, and anyone who can add pertinent facts should go right ahead! Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:55, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
