Wikipedia is not a place for entire plot summaries
[edit]Hi, I write this to User:Lonelydarksky since I have understood you prefer discussions on article talk pages.
First I want to thank you for adding content to this article. I mean it. Second, I want to ask you why do you think synopses of episodes should not be on Wikipedia. I checked WP:Summary style, WP:Plot summaries, and What Wikipedia is not and have not found a reason for deleting the synopses from this article.
For including them I give you three reasons; the last is the result of my thinking about what might be wrong with my synopses accoring to you, and I might have miseed a point there.
1) I have not found synopses of this TV series in English anywhere else, so information like this is useful for anyone intereseted in the series. Of course, if there are English sources with such information (which may no doubt happen), a link will be much appreciated, since it would be more convenient for raders, and would save my time.
2) There are TV series articles with plot summaries that are longer than the summaries I provided. e.g. List of The Big Bang Theory episodes (season 5).
3) The article did not consist of only synopses and the synopses were not excessively long with regard to the article - and if they were, a new page should have been created instead of deleting information ("In general, information should not be removed from Wikipedia.") I also tried to focus on those details that differ from other Journey to the West TV adaptations.
I am quite a new user probably not acquainted with some of the deeper intricacies of wikipeadia policy so I would appreciate backed-up answers precisly to the point to avoid future mistakes. Thank you, and hope to hear from you, WikiHannibal (talk) 00:21, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- The plot synopsis is unnecessary because the bulk of it is almost the same as Journey to the West#Synopsis. You've probably noticed that plot summaries are usually not written for films and television series based on the Four Great Classical Novels and others such as Jin Yong's wuxia novels, unless the adaptation significantly deviates from the original story. Even if it's the latter case, the plot summary section will not cover the whole story, but rather, it points out the differences between the original source and the adaptation. In such instances, we must be careful to avoid original research. Two examples are The Book and the Sword (2008 TV series) and Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain (2006 TV series). This earlier version is WP:PLOTONLY because nearly half of the entire article is synopsis. Lonelydarksky (暗無天日) contact me (聯絡) 04:56, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
