[edit]Had trouble with the translator tool's reference functions. Trying to figure that out manually in later draft. apecat (talk) 11:53, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Also adding some language about the pop culture/social media relevance of the owner of the establishment. He and his store's web presence could be described as fun, outspoken and down to earth, in a way very uncharacteristic for marketing. I'll probably sleep on it. apecat (talk) 11:56, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Notability dispute
[edit]Pichpich tagged the article, disputing its notability.
Some context: If memory serves, I wrote this article to try out and learn the Wikipedia translation tool. It might even have been suggested by the translation tool itself as a candidate for Finnish -> English translation, but I'm not sure.
I don't feel particularly passionate about this subject one way or the other, beyond having a personal interest in social media branding, and being somewhat impressed that a fellow ADHD person manages to run a business operation of this size, despite personal challenges, like addictions.
However, notability should not be an issue, unless Finnish media appearances weigh less. If non-Anglo mainstream media, as a Wikipedia policy, weigh less, that's of course fine, and something I leave to the discretion of senior editors. In all honesty, find the fate of this article a mostly academic exercise, which I'll follow up on out of pure interest in being a more productive community member.
But the fact of the matter is that the subject is a major presence in Finnish social media, and has numerous mentions in Finnish mainstream media. The references include dedicated feature articles in Kauppalehti, MTV3, by the Finnish national public service broadcaster (Yle) as well as the marketing and advertising trade publication Markinointi & Mainonta.
I had missed a mention of the subject winning some social media marketing award in Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest newspaper in the Nordics, which I'll add to the references list as time allows. As a matter of personal taste, I've left out numerous mentions of the subject in the major Finnish tabloids (eew) Ilta-Sanomat and Iltalehti, but I might add some of those those as well, if it helps to establish notability.
As a phenomenon in Finnish media, Jounin kauppa is as well documented as they come. I'm keen to find out if that's relevant enough to warrant a translation from Finnish Wikipedia.
best,
