When named in pectore?
[edit]How is the 1949 in-pectore appointment arrived at? Pope Pius XII held only 2 consistories (1946 and 1953) during his pontificate, and he stuck to the maximum of 70 cardinals (not exceeded until the pontificate of his immediate successor, Pope John XXIII). There were rumors that Slipyj was 1 of the 3 in-pectore appointments of Pope John XXIII in 1960; those appointments were never published, so they expired when that pope died in 1963. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 16:25, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
