Lyrics
[edit]The lyrics of the song are notable not just for their strong sense of a happy, close-knit community (unusual in the songs of this band) but also for the hints about upcoming carefree violence and orgies in the open, about breaking the law and showing who's in control:
"Sleep on the beach and make it / Throw down the jam till the girls say when / Lay down the law and break it / When Josie comes home"
or:
"Dance on the bones till the girls say when / Pick up what's left by daylight / When Josie comes home"
I think this should be pointed out in the lyrics section, and I'm sure it should be possible to find some sources who have referred to it in writing. 195.67.149.172 (talk) 10:00, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
Years ago (probably around 1979), I was watching daytime TV and happened upon an old crappy movie. It was a musical. Very stagey. Looked like it was made in the late thirties or forties, MAYBE early 1950s.
They had a musical number about "When Josie comes home". A few dozen people were on the stage singing about how much they loved Josie and how wonderful it will be to see her again. They were all wearing pastel yellows, pinks, and orange costumes. This went on for a minute or two, then Josie appears. She's the only one wearing any shade of blue. The whole thing was kind of surreal and unintentionally hilarious.
I remember reading that Donald and Walter used to sit around and watch old movies.
Darn it, I didn't write down the name of the movie. I've spent a few hours trying to find it on Google, but no luck.
Does anybody happen to know about this? It's definitely not a well-known musical.

Anti-smoking PSA
[edit]Does anyone else remember the anti-smoking Public Service Announcment that used the ending of this song, with a bunch of teenagers getting repulsed and/or sick from their cigarettes and just tossing them on the ground ending with some guy with a deep voice saying "smoking stinks?" ---------User:DanTD (talk) 08:47, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
