[edit]While the speedy deletion suggestion was made as I was still composing the article, I believe that the content of it now suggests that Mr. Nelson is of sufficiently significant national and international prominence to warrant an article. --Epeefleche 06:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Among other reasons why he is notable, in my view, is the fact that the movie that has been made about him has been played in so many countries, and that so many famous musicians have performed with him.
A search on google will also reveal many newspaper articles, magazine articles, and television documentaries on him.
His contribution to Jewish gospel singing is also unique and widely recognized.
He has also appeared in Oprah, which is well known.
