Archiving
[edit]- I have posed the archiving question to Essjay, at User talk:Essjay. Smee 13:06, 1 March 2007 (UTC).
From Essjay's talk:
- Is there a way to set up one of your bots to archive the talk page at Talk:Josette Sheeran Shiner ?? Thank you for your time. Smee 13:06, 1 March 2007 (UTC).
- Sure, as long as there is consensus to do so; just propose it on the talk page, get agreement for it, and settle on how old posts should be before being archived, what the archive scheme should be, and how big the archives should get in KB before the next one is created. Essjay (Talk) 14:06, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
So, issues to discuss for archiving:
- Agreement for archiving.
- How old should posts be before archiving?
- Archive scheme?
- How big should archives be before creating next one?
As for me, I am pro-archiving, don't care how big they get, and think they should be maybe 7 days old before archiving. Thoughts? Smee 14:11, 1 March 2007 (UTC).
- Archived manually.
- I have taken the initative to archive manually. Smee 05:37, 2 March 2007 (UTC).
streamlining articles
[edit]Hi there. I'm interested in combining this entry with my entry called 'Josette Sheeran.' This is my first time using Wikipedia, so I'm unsure of protocol -- please forgive me. However, it seems that this entry is somewhat dated -- it lists Sheeran by her married name (which she no longer uses) and starts by listing her former position instead of her current one, among other things. Is there anyway we could work together to combine our entries and create a new, improved entry? Thanks. Web.articles 14:48, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. So long as you can back up new information added to the article with citations from reputable secondary sources, this should not be a problem. Smee 20:03, 4 May 2007 (UTC).
I sure can. Thanks so much! The information you've supplied on her past work is pretty detailed, and I don't really have any problems with it. But I think I might have a bit more info on her current gig. (I'd like to include the part about Ambassador Bolton, but wasn't aware of it until I read your article -- do you have a source that I can include with that bit?) So, here's my idea: I will update the first two sections to include both our work, as well as the photo and info box. If you have a problem with anything I change, please let me know.
I have an issue with including her religious affiliation, but I want to talk with you about it before I just change it. I don't think it's relevant, as she hasn't been affiliated with the Unification Church in many years, and she was never a spokesperson for the Church. (For the Washington Times, yes, but not for the Church). Anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there and get some feedback. Thanks for working with me!Web.articles 15:27, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- The information is relevant, as it was referred to in many reputable secondary sourced citations. Not to mention that it was reported that the Bush Administration asked to avoid this issue in particular - that I'm afraid makes it even more notable... Smee 15:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC).
- Fair point. Thanks for your help and your courtesy! Web.articles 16:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]Suggested move target: Josette Sheeran
- As she is no longer married, Josette Sheeran Shiner is no longer her legal name. In addition, she identifies with Josette Sheeran (see wikipedia naming conventions; self-identification) —Bottle.of.water. 07:51, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Bottle.of.water. 07:51, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
I completely agree. It is only right to refer to her by her legal name, Josette SHEERAN.
Web.articles 14:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Support - Per self-introduction as well as common usage (quick google search on her name plus a couple relevant terms to remove false results show Sheeran to be used much more commonly). --Cheers, Komdori 17:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd suggest reinstating the last good version of Josette Sheeran, which used to be a parallel article, and taking care of this as a merge. Otherwise, the histories will have to be flipped in the close. No need to do that if any extra information can be gleaned from the previous version at that other title. Dekimasuよ! 03:21, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Dekimasu, that's not a bad idea but the last version of Josette Sheeran seems to have been deleted/removed. When you click on the link you are automatically redirected to Josette Sheeran Shiner. I think it would be easier to just rename the existing page. Bottle.of.water. 07:17, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
This article has been renamed {{{{{subst}}}#if:JOSETTE SHEERAN|from JOSETTE SHEERAN to Josette Sheeran}} as the result of a move request. (Article was at Josette Sheeran Shiner at the time of the request but was moved to a poor choice of title while request was stuck in the backlog at WP:RM.) --Stemonitis 08:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

UC and WT
[edit]I made a few changes regarding her history with the Unification Church and the Washington Times. Of course she got her first job at the Times because she was a church member. This is now suggested. I made a mistake and said in my edit summary that there was no source for her having joined the church in the 70s. This is stated in one of the news stories. I also took out information about her marriage and divorce from the religion section. Of course we "insiders" (UC members and critics) understand the importance of the connection, but others will not and I don't think a reliable source could be found which discusses it. Steve Dufour (talk) 15:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- BTW It would be very smart of President Obama to let her keep her job. :-) Steve Dufour (talk) 07:31, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
