The article states that "Bracken met Rizal when the latter spent several months in Hong Kong in 1891-92." I think that this isn't true, as Rizal never knew Taufer and Bracken when he was in HongKong. The first time Rizal met them was when he was in Dapitan.Leoisiah (talk) 12:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
When did they meet and how long were they together?
[edit]Someone posted sources straight out from the book but failed to point out when the couple actually met, became boyfriend/girlfriend. It only stated that they were married shortly before Rizal's execution. Does anyone have sources? Bleubeatle (talk) 21:45, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Two more recent sources about the life of Josephine Bracken
[edit]"Errante Golondrina" is a biography of Josephine Bracken by Macario Ofilada, who is a great grandson of Josephine. Despite the author's relation, the biography is well researched and documented and makes a quite successful attempt to view the subject from a fair and scholarly perspective. Unfortunately, it is out of print, but should one be lucky enough to own, buy, or borrow a copy, it will prove an invaluable source.
Rene Escalante's article "Did Jose Rizal Die a Catholic?" (Southeast Asian Studies, Vol. 8, No. 3, December 2019) looks into an intelligence report included in the archives of the Cuerpo de Vigilancia (Spain's colonial intelligence arm in the Philippines) wherein the operative reports witnessing a Spanish chaplain conduct a wedding ceremony for Jose Rizal and Josephine Bracken at around 5:30am on Dec 30, less than two hours before Rizal was executed. This is additional evidence deemed to be credible as the Cuerpo is not an arm of the Catholic Church in the Philippines nor does one expect it to hold any sympathies towards the enemies of the Catholic Church.
