Expansion
[edit]This is a good start on the article, but it would be better if it were expanded with other information, such as notable and/or typical scams (other than the elixir already mentioned), if he got caught and how (which may be multiple times), and what punishment he received if he was caught. -- Kjkolb 03:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, his autobiography was reprinted last year, should provide ample material for his version of events

Sources
[edit]Found this article, detailing some of Weil's cons as well as the full text of his autobiography. Should be good enough for some expansion. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 15:22, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Jewish (?)
[edit]Weil is listed on List of Jewish American mobsters, but Joseph Weil doesn't say anything about his being Jewish. If he is Jewish, we should say so and include a Reliable Source. The Chicago Tribune entry I just added to External links says that, while in prison, Weil signed a letter, "Joseph Weil, president Jewish congregation." That doesn't make him Jewish (especially since he was a con man). If we don't say that he is Jewish in his own article, he should be stripped from List of Jewish American mobsters. —Anomalocaris (talk) 18:38, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
