[edit]Joseph Schmidts' frail health was known to the direction of the refugee camp. My late mother was born in Czernowitz and knew Joseph Scmidt well ,as she was German speaking she was appointed as liaison between the refugees and the management of the camp in Switzerland. The refugees lived under harsh physical conditions and slept covered with newspapers. My late mother saw how the late Joseph Schmidts' condition was deteriorating and went to the management (Oberste) to explain that he is a very special and frail man which deserves at least a blanket to keep him warm . My late mother was then threatened with deportation to " where she came from " ,you and your Joseph Schmidt should be thankful you are alive. Unfortunately because this ill treatment his condition worsened and he didn't survive . A memorial plate is very nice but to save a life with a blanket is even more ,and this is not much to ask . No compassion and no respect are the explanation for your citing : "but for some reason this was dismissed and he was discharged" .
You may or may not want to correct in some way the citation , but I saw it as important to inform you what circumstances and which people have brought to the unnecessary ,premature death of Joseph Schmidt.
