Article class
[edit]{{help me}} I have changed this article from a stub into a full-fledged article. From the article itself I have removed its classification as a stub. But being a newbie to Wikipedia, I am reluctant to change the data in the colored boxes here, because I don’t know in what category it should now be classified, and because I don’t understand some if the codes that generate these boxes; e.g., what does the "yes" after "auto" mean? Help from a more experienced Wikipedian would be appreciated. Polla ta deina (talk) 10:57, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- The auto appears to be a bot related feature from the WP:Biography project as noted here. The class of an article is how well it is written. Specific details can be found here. Skimming the article, I would say it is either C or B class. You can feel free to change the class yourself (not GA or FA as those require someone else to review the article). Just change "|class=" to which ever you feel it is. CTJF83 chat 11:15, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Not objective or professional sounding voice
[edit]The article sounds like it was written by his mother. It sounds overly subjective and fawning. It uses his first name: "Joseph did this. Joseph did that." This is not professional. It goes into lengthy subjective personality traits that are likely irrelevant to an encyclopedia; e.g. whole paragraphs about how he was "humble" and "sociable." No — Ryelandt, for our purposes, was just a COMPOSER, not a great man. His personality – like that of Mozart's or Beethoven's – is of no pertinence to encyclopedia readers, particularly when it's just hearsay. Lastly there is unprofessional phrasings like "Ryelandt trained as a pianist until he was about 20; no wonder his piano output is vast." This line is also not logical. It sounds like it came from a bad essay written by a freshman music student.
I only skimmed this article and noticed its glaring unprofessional voice. It really needs to be rewritten. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.57.190 (talk) 21:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
"for in 1899 he had married Marguerite Carton de Wiart (1872–1939), and the children had come thick and fast, eight in all" – that's gotta be the "best" line I've ever seen in a Wikipedia article. 188.193.137.173 (talk) 21:16, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I removed one POV statement that I happen to agree with, but was not encyclopedic. HammerFilmFan (talk) 23:39, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
After the publication of the Notices
[edit]I have changed all the page numbers of the references to Ryelandt's Notices sur mes œuvres to those of the new (November 2015) edition. That edition also indicates the page numbers of the typescript, so that all references to the Notices in older publications are perfectly traceable.
