MR. JOSEPH LYNCH

The death has occurred of Mr. Joseph B. Lynch, Patrick St. Kilkenny, farmer, who was a member of the First Dail for Laoighis-Offaly. He later supported the Treaty. He formerly carried on business in Mountmellick, and was later a Inspector in the Department of Local Government. He was a close friend of the late Mr. Kevin O'Higgins and of the late Dr. T. F. O'Higgins, T.D.
Mr. Lynch served terms of imprisonment in Ballykinlar and in Belfast and was released in the general amnesty for members of the Dail prior to the signing of the Treaty.
He is survived by his wife, his son, Kevin who is a member of the staff of the Munster and Leinster Bank, Callan, and a daughter, Mother Hilary.
Old I.R.A. men formed a guard of honour at the removal of the remains to St. Patrick's Church, Kilkenny.

Members of the Kilkenny Brigade, Old I.R.A., nder Brigde Commandeant T. Treacey, provided a gudard of honour at the funeral of Mr. Joseph P. Lynch, Patrick St, Lilkenny, which took place from St. Patrick's Church to Foulkstown Cemetery. The chief mourners were Mrs. Josephine Lynch (widow); Mr. Kevin Lynch (son); Rev. Mother M. Hilary Brigidine Convent, Windsor, (daughter); Mrs. Holoes, Dun Laoghaire (sister-in-law); District Justice J. Farrell and Mrs. Farrell, Dublin; Mr. and Mrs. W. Reynolds, and Mr. and Mrs. P. and Master Christopher Tynan, Abbeyleix, (relatives).
