Joseph Mar Koorilose IX and Ecumenical Relations with the Anglican Church
[edit]Joseph Mar Koorilose IX played a pivotal role in establishing strong ecumenical ties between the Malabar Independent Syrian Church (MISC) and the Anglican Church. In 1989, he became the first Metropolitan of the church to visit England, where he met the Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, and expressed a willingness to celebrate the Eucharist with Church of England congregations.
