Surviving house and slaveholdings issues
[edit]The cited Davis book has pictures of his and his brother William's house circa 1970 but says the governor's house was destroyed, but that his brother's house remains. However, the Governor Joseph Johnston House has a wikipedia article, and apparently some Victorian era porches were removed in the 1970s. I don't know when or if I can visit Clarksburg to sort this out. Plus, I checked slave schedules and couldn't find any for him in the 1850s and 1860s, but ancestry.com might have changed its handling of those census documents.Jweaver28 (talk) 00:34, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
