Is there a source for the fact that Hawley arrived in 1629 or 1630 on the Planter? I can find no references online to the Planter sailing before 1634. The Great Migration Project at the New England Historic & Genealogical Society has not identified any records of Joseph in the colonies before 1636. The Hawley Society website states that he is assumed to have come 1629/1630, with no ship or support.-AMG41 (talk) 23:57, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Hawley Record of 1890 states that he arrived in Boston around 1629-1630. The Curtiss Genealogy of 1903 states that he made a crossing in the Planter in 1635 with several other future proprietors of Stratford. He probably made several crossings of which there may be no record before permanently settling in America. I possess some of the rough draft research notebooks created by Frederick Haines Curtiss for the Curtiss Genealogy in 1903. There's another volume of facts & information that he left out!Tomticker5 (talk) 17:14, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
