Fair use rationale for Image:Joseph Dupleix Stamp.jpg
[edit]Image:Joseph Dupleix Stamp.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Slavery?
[edit]The paucity of any mention of slavery is striking.
Both in his business "in the Americas", and in Asia, slavery is the elephant in the room nobody is mentioning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.170.212.34 (talk) 11:51, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Wealthy farmer
[edit]On main section biography, the term "wealthy farmer" seems incorrectly translated from the French version: "Fermier General". A "fermier general" was a tax collector, see article in french version; not a farmer 70.26.77.91 (talk) 16:54, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Where was he born?
[edit]article says he was born in "Landrecies, France" while the info box says Amsterdam. Is there a reason for this discrepancy? Remusofreem (talk) 19:13, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
Nationality and Life
[edit]As Far as I and theEncyclopedia Brittanica know Dupleix was not a Dutch official or in any way affiliated with the Dutch East India company but with the French and French East India Company. I am going to edit the article to reflect this but If anyone has any information on why this page is in such a bizarre state please respond here and revert my edits Remusofreem (talk) 05:49, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Evidence of Damage
[edit]It seems that this page was previously damaged in December by an anon, who replaced many instances of "French" with "Dutch" and replaced the last part of "biography" with several arbitrary sentences. Evidence: [1] Doriath~ (talk) 07:09, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
thanks for pointing to the specific edit. I feel that all of the damage should be reverted Remusofreem (talk) 00:09, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
Typo sentence?
[edit]"Under his administration, the town and grew into great depression." ^ Not sure what the original intent of this line was but I and grew into being very confused.
Buffoon writing
[edit]The article seems to be the handiwork of some Indian academic clown! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.223.95.1 (talk) 04:41, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
