Changes
[edit]I made the following changes to the article
- Firstly, I changed the sentence, "The tumor started forming on his lips when he was 14. Mestre, a devout Jehovah's Witness, has refused surgical treatment because it would violate personal convictions." According to the Discovery Channel, "Mestre has never treated his tumor because of "years of medical misinformation, some misdiagnosis, lack of finances, and reluctance to undergo treatment due to religious beliefs." There have been other factors in addition to his faith.
- The sentence, "When he was a child, his mother told him never to accept a blood transfusion, and he follows her advice out of respect and faith" needs to be sourced. It has been removed pending one per WP:BLP.
- Ditto for, "This has frustrated his sister and caretaker, Guida Mestre, who thinks he should have the operation since it is easy and his refusal is based on his faith as a Jehovah's Witness." The video.discoverychannel.co.uk link points to a different video entirely, so that needs to be fixed. Also, it cannot be stated simply that the operation is easy. According to the Discovery Channel/ABC news, "Doctors say surgery to remove tumors like Mestre's are usually successful, but range in severity depending on the size of the arteries affected by the tumor."
