Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... The page might have been created by a user who is globally banned, but the subject of the article is now rather a notable person. Just check the many Authority Control hits he gets. He even has an entry in the Spanish Royal Academy of History.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:41, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The banned user had a habit of pasting the result of a google translation into the article, whithout crediting the creators of the original, presenting it as own work. I haven't checked if that's the case here too, but if so, there's nothing to be gained from keeping a machine translation. A reader would be better off using a new machine translation each time, since they tend to improve. Vexations (talk) 20:01, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if it was a google translation, but they sure could have mentioned some more steps in the biography of Jose Maria Jimeno Jurio. The more I work on the article, I more I see the article is about an influential personality in Basque (Region of Spain) history. Not just a person, an influential person.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 21:27, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Paradise Chronicle, I also think the subject is notable. Ideally, another editor would have created a proper article rather than allowing the banned editor evade his ban by creating a quick translation of the Spanish version of the article. We should at least acknowledge the contribution of the editors who wrote that article, per WP:TFOLWP. My preferred solution would be to collect all the extant sources, delete under G5, and start over. Vexations (talk) 22:28, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, delete under G5. I didn't read the G5 criteria before. I just contested the deletion for notability.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 22:55, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Paradise Chronicle, here's a list of all the sources used in the Basque, Spanish and English article (note: not all of them work):
I find the first one particularly convincing of the subject's notability Vexations (talk) 23:14, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well I guess the discussion has found a solution. Liz removed the G5 tag. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 05:22, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
