I'll review this one, too; comments to follow Kingsif (talk) 03:40, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Style

[edit]
  • Lead good length
  • Intro to early life and career well-written, FBI profile could use a time frame because it seems to refer to when he was in sixth grade
  • Potentially could have a sentence explaining the relevance of the nightclub info (i.e. they were looking for him), but not necessary
  • Manhunt and charges section otherwise good
  • Surrender section nice
  • The Imprisonment and deportation section (second paragraph) mentions 3 times that it's not known if he testified against other cartel members. All times it seems appropriate, but if possible the phrasing of one or two could be tweaked because it feels a bit like it's just repeating at the moment
  • Could incorporate the quotes into the text better
  • Again, a sense of repetition with saying that he could be targeted for informing
  •  Done – I've rephrased the FBI profile and the "Imprisonment and deportation section". I kept the last mention because it was specifically about his boss (which I had not clarified before). Feel free to remove it. In addition, the two mentions about being targeted for informing say that he was in danger both in and out of prison. MX () 17:29, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Coverage

[edit]
  • Lead good overview
  • Good coverage in early life and career, appropriate depth and use of source info
  • Manhunt and charges pretty good (see note above)
  • Looks good but seems to stop at 2009 - nothing since?
  • Glad you bring this up. Short answer is no, there is no public info about him after he was charged in 2009. I've looked into government archives, newspaper databases, done advanced searches on Google, but nothing comes up. I reached out to the Mexican federal government several months back through their Ley de Transparencia (English: Transparency Law) requesting information about Mr. Garza Rendón's legal status (if he was convicted, how long was his conviction, what charges was he convicted of, if/when he was released, if he had any outstanding charges or if he was facing trial). I received a negative response, where authorities indicated that I needed his approval to receive such information. I have a PDF from the Mexican government with their response, should you or anyone else need it. MX () 17:29, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
