Fluent Spanish speakers correct me, but I thought "Travieso" more correctly translated as "The Troublemaker", not, "The Little Rascal". Any help? HandsomeSam57 23:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are right--Hdpercar 21:00, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's actually not a 4-division champion.

[edit]

I removed the text saying that he's the first Mexican to win world titles in 4 separate weight classes because if you really inspect his record, you'll see that he didn't. He won the WBO and WBC light flyweight titles, the WBO junior bantamweight title, and the WBO junior featherweight title- that's only 3 divisions. All the other so-called "world" titles that he won were interim titles and an interim title is not an official world title, it just means that you're the mandatory for the person with the real title. There are cases where a fighter has an interim title and is then named that sanctioning body's champion due to the current champion being stripped or vacating the title but that didn't happen with Arce when he won his interim titles. He won the interim WBC flyweight title but never took on the real champion, meaning he never won an actual title at flyweight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.111.193 (talk) 12:40, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Pronounced Ar-say"?

[edit]

Any native or well instructed spanish speaker will tell you that "Arce" has a sound much like the "se" in "Sepulchre". It doesn't rhyme with the english word "say". In fact, those kinds of pronunciations for spanish words are a tell-tale sign that the speaker's native tongue is english. So I've corrected that by indicating it is pronounced "ar-seh". Also, "El Travieso" does not translate as "The Menace" (this was most likely a confusion, as the cartoon character "Dennis the Menace" is called "Daniel El Travieso" in México), but it does in fact mean "The mischievous one" or "the naughty one". It is understood as someone (usually a child) who is very energetic and tends to break rules, but does so in the spirit of having innocent fun, not for the sake of causing trouble.NGK-Lion (talk) 08:45, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
