Gentlemen, I do not think it's a question of whether or not they have been correctly identified as political prisoners. It's simply a statement that they have been referred to as such. This is contested, and it needs to be reflected as such in the Wiki page. --contribs (talk) 20:51, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Dmarinov10: Well, they certainly fit multiple criteria defined by Amnesty International to classify someone as a political prisoner. In any case, I would like to know why the following facts have been deleted: Footage published by several media sources shows events that contradict the text of the sentence.[1] Amnesty International has issued an official statement calling on Spanish authorities to release Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Cuixart and to drop the charges of sedition.Cite error: The
<ref>
tag has too many names (see the help page).
- The current text does not contain the call for immediate release by Amnesty International.
- Moreover, EFA (an association of political parties across EU) has already referred to Mr. Cuixart and Mr. Sanchez as political prisoners. See: http://www.e-f-a.org/services/news-single-view/?tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=1088&cHash=73d007beece71f2c330e832442bff1ed
- That reference might be valuable to include as well.
- @Victorjjp: I think both pieces of information and accompanying references are suitable. For the record, I did not delete this information. I worked from the final version that was available, and it had been recently vandalized. Feel free to add this.
- @Dmarinov10: I have just added them. Indeed, I saw the article's history, and the several vandalic edits created quite a mess that was difficult to recover from.
- @Dmarinov10: An unregistered user (80.39.40.241) is again changing arbitrary parts of the article without reason.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Victorjjp (talk • contribs) 20:51, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Neutrality
[edit]I have added the Point of View Wikipedia:NPOV box because the last column is not neutral, but states the view of the spanish side as facts.
By Wikipedia principles, Wikipedia is neutral and needs to state the opinions of both sides without stating that either one is right or wrong. We do not judge. --Tscherpownik (talk) 05:37, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Exiled Puigdemont
[edit]There has been some debate about considering Puigdemont exiled or fugitive. There are many sources that define his current situation as being in exile:

I know it's a controversial term in Spain and most Spanish media use the word fugitive, but please, provide international relevant sources before changing that again. --Aljullu (talk) 18:16, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Dear @Aljullu:
- Sorry for the delay in answering.
- Let's see the definition in the Oxford dictionary: "(of a person) having been expelled and barred from one's native country, typically for political or punitive reasons." so using the term exiled in this case is inaccurate, since Puigdemont left Spain to escape justice, he was not expelled nor barred. What would be more accurate is to call him self-exiled.
- We have many international relevant sources that are more accurate and do call him fugitive or self-exiled, as for example:

Thank you for the input BallenaBlanca. Still, you don't seem to justify why your sources are more relevant than the ones I linked. Indeed, some of them are from the same media which would prove yours and mine have, at least, the same validity. Given that it's a disputed word, I just removed it (it's not needed for the understanding of this article) until a consensus can be found. I will please ask you to stop the editions war until an agreement is found. --Aljullu (talk) 09:02, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
