I'll take a look at this one, will post review as soon as possible. Kosack (talk) 09:04, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Initial review

Lead

[edit]
  • The lead seems a little short overall and could do with fleshing out.  Done
  • "for which he captains", I'm not sure that makes grammatical sense.  Done

Sunderland

[edit]
  • Link Tyne and Wear and include a comma immediately afterwards.  Done
  • "He played his first league match for Sunderland as a half-time substitute on 1 November 2008 in a 5–0 away defeat to Chelsea", was this his full debut or simply his league debut. I think this could be made clearer.  Done

Return to Sunderland

[edit]
  • League Cup is already linked in a previous section. Per WP:OVERLINK, links should generally only appear once in the main body.  Done
  • "Henderson spent the majority of the season on the right side of midfield but played centrally in the absence of Lee Cattermole", ref 17 doesn't support this.  Not done
It's correct but I can't find a source which quotes it. What do I do? REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:06, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We need reliable sources to support information. If none exist, I'd question its inclusion. Kosack (talk) 19:43, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Only two sentences for his final season. That seems a little light when he's winning awards.  Done

Liverpool

[edit]
  • Six references for his transfer? Are all these really necessary?  Done down to 4
  • "Henderson was told he would be allowed to join Fulham", I think this could be explained better. This reads more like Fulham made an approach for him while the ref states he was used as part of an offer for Clint Dempsey.  Done
  • The opening of this section is a little choppy with a few single sentence paragraphs that could do with being worked together better.  Done
  • "On 29 September 2013, he made his 100th appearance for the club as Liverpool won 1–3 at Sunderland", this sentence actually takes place during the season in the following paragraph.  Done
  • "as Steven Gerrard stayed on the bench"> Gerrard was an unused substitute.  Done
  • "Henderson started many Liverpool matches as captain as Gerrard was out injured or being rested on the bench", this sentence is a little clunky. I would change to something like "Henderson frequently captained Liverpool in Gerrard's absence".  Done
  • "Following the departure of Steven Gerrard", no need to use his first name as he's mentioned frequently before this.  Done
  • There's a bit of a gap between the start of the 2016-17 season and 2018, especially when he reached a Champions League final in that time.  Done
  • "Henderson played through pain after suffering a first half knee injury", no mention of this in the source?  Done added source
  • "marked by his now-signature pre-trophy lift 'shuffle'", not seeing this in the source either and is it really relevant?  Done
  • Overall, this section is getting rather large especially with a few areas for expansion obvious as well. I think a sub heading would be warranted now, perhaps a split for the Klopp era or his appointment as permanent captain.  Done

Youth

[edit]
  • "Henderson has represented England at four levels", are we saying he never represented England at a level before under-19s?  Done changed

Senior

[edit]
  • Link France to the national side.  Done
  • Section is a little short for a player with over 50 caps. Paragraphs two and three for example seem a little rushed for two major international tournaments.  Done not really much more that I can find.

Style of play

[edit]
  • "although under Jürgen Klopp he has mostly been used as a defensive midfielder", this is the first time that Klopp has been mentioned in the article so it's a little confusing. Really I would expect Klopp to be mentioned in the Liverpool section somewhere, so this could be unlinked and potentially dropped to last name only.  Done
  • Unlink Gerrard in the second paragraph. Done

Personal life

[edit]
  • "was spotted at the 2014 League Cup Final", spotted is a little unencyclopaedic. Simply, he attended the 2014... would be better.  Done
  • "was there in Madrid to see his son lift the Champions League trophy in 2019", is this particularly notable?  Done
  • Liverpool FC > Liverpool, and drop the link.  Done
  • Unlink Premier League also.  Done
  • Link NHS. Done

Honours

[edit]
  • Is the third place in the Nations League really an honour?  Not done
Harry Kane's page has it and its a GA REDMAN 2019 (talk) 15:26, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]
  • Ref 18 is a dead link, can it be recovered or replaced?  Done
Do you mean ref 19? If so this was all I could find [1] REDMAN 2019 (talk) 15:32, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are quite a few references that don't have access dates.  Done
  • Ref 21 needs filling out, publisher, dates etc.  Done
  • Refs 32, 33 and 34 need an author. This seems pretty prevalent throughout, so the refs need to be gone through to find out which ones have available authors.  Done
  • Refs 36 and 37 format the BBC differently to the rest of the uses. Try to maintain one style for consistency.  Done
  • There are at least 4 refs that are bare urls.
Which ones? REDMAN 2019 (talk) 10:31, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Iggy the Swan used refill to fill these out a few days ago, so this one is no longer relevant. Kosack (talk) 12:25, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's a fair bit of work to be done here I think. This is what I picked out on an initial run through, once these are addressed I think the article will be in much better shape. Placed on hold for the time being. Kosack (talk) 10:14, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How are we looking here? It's been over ten days now. Kosack (talk) 06:20, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have addressed the issues that have been raised. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:53, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • The lead sentence is very jumbled. Take a look at Harry Maguire for a better layout perhaps.  Done
Have made some changes and hopefully it will pass inspection. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:45, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He has also won the League Cup and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup", seems odd to list the year for the Super Cup and not the League Cup. I would either add the League Cup year or drop the Super Cup one.  Done
  • "at five international tournaments", you only list four, two Euros and two World Cups. Out of curiosity, what's the fifth?  Done
sorry was tired when I made that edit (need to remember to have a nap before editing Wikipedia). REDMAN 2019 (talk) 13:21, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "And has won the England Player of the Year award twice", I'm assuming this was meant to be part of the previous sentence. If not, we shouldn't really be starting a sentence with and.  Done

Return to Sunderland

[edit]
  • Ever present usually means the player features in every match during the season, but Henderson missed two matches during the campaign. I think this needs rewording.  Done
  • Also, his appearances and goals for the season aren't sourced.  Done

Breaking into the first-team

[edit]
  • "on 29 September 2013, he made his 100th appearance for the club as Liverpool won 1–3 at Sunderland", this should be a standalone sentence. It has little relation to the first half of the sentence and is a little clunky.  Done
  • "started in a Liverpool's 2–1 home win", doesn't quite work.  Done
  • "only to finish second with the team as Manchester City", I don't think "with the team" is needed here.  Done
  • "Henderson frequently captained Liverpool in Gerrard's absence", source? Although this is very similar to the "Henderson started many Liverpool matches as captain" in the following paragraph. One mention is probably enough.  Done

Club captain and European success

[edit]
  • The first paragraph here mentions he missed an early portion of the season but then jumps to the following season. Could do with some info here, even if it's just a general summary of his return and appearances throughout the season.  Done
  • "Henderson ended the 2017–18 season with 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring 1 goal", source?  Done
  • "Henderson played through pain after suffering a first half knee injury", still not seeing any mention of this in the sources?
In the Liverpool FC source it mentions Henderson going down for treatment and then staying on the pitch. I was watching that game and can confirm that Henderson did suffer a knee injury in the first half and yet stayed on however I cannot find a source that quotes it. Should I remove it? REDMAN 2019 (talk) 13:39, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Youth

[edit]
  • "Henderson is a full England international", is this really needed? The section is covering his time in youth age groups, so I'm not sure why this is relevant at this point.  Done

Senior

[edit]
  • Link Euro 2012.  Done
  • Unlink Italy in the third paragraph, already linked previously.  Done
  • "the number of minutes he played in each World Cup group game seems a bit like overkill. I would rewires to state he started both matches personally.  Done
  • "Henderson also went to Euro 2016 with Roy Hodgson in France", a little informal. "Was also selected in the England squad for Euro 2016 by Roy Hodgson"?  Done
  • Link Euro 2016.  Done
  • "nation end third", finish third?  Done

References

[edit]
  • Ref 69 returns an error message for me.
Replaced. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 10:32, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref 70 appears to have disappeared.  Not done
It's still there. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 13:54, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nah - the reference now goes to this website which does not go to what content was put onto the article. You need to go to the InternetArchive machine to find one. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:03, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind I have found a new ref for it. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 10:27, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Refs 32, 33, 42, 62, 65, 85, 86, 91, 92, 97, have an available author.  Done
  • Refs 34 and 96 need a publishing date.  Done(34),  Not done(96)
I can't find one for ref 96, but my computer is having trouble loading the website and could be the reason. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 15:18, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe it works for me - is it the one titled "Complete Analysis of Jordan Henderson's Liverpool Role" which has now been re-numbered to 101, in which I do see a publishing date.Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:03, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I still can't get my computer to load the page don't know why. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 10:07, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it in. Kosack (talk) 18:24, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are still some oddly formatted references that are out of sync with the rest. BBC refs at 36, 37, 41, 88 and 107 and The Guardian in 93 and 105.  Done
  • I don't think we need the full BBC title in refs 51 and 53.  Done
  • Ref 52 is broken.  Done
  • Refs 4 and 89 are the same.  Done
  • Ref 106 has no publisher.  Done

Some of these points are still outstanding from my initial run through, particularly the refs. Kosack (talk) 19:43, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have addressed it best I can please contact me with corrections or improvements. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:47, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Final points

[edit]
  • "Henderson established himself as a regular member of the Liverpool team in the 2013–14 season, playing in 35 Premier League matches", need a source here.  Done
  • The 2016–17 info still seems light. After his goal of the month award in September, the next info we have is the following season.  Done
  • With the removal of the FA reference, the first sentence of the international youth section is now unsourced.  Done
have found his new profile on the same website but there doesn't seem to be much info on his early career. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:28, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is about it I think. Once these three are addressed, I think we're there. Kosack (talk) 18:24, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Aside from the FA ref I think that the page is now ready for the final check. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:29, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the wait, crazy times right now. I'm happy to promote this now, it's in much better shape than when we started and meets the GA criteria in my opinion. Nice work. Kosack (talk) 06:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Post-GA

[edit]

Just occurred to me right now that there was an odd space in the team name Liverpool in terms of the title of the source after he returned from injury before the Swansea match dated November 2015. I've fixed that in this edit. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:26, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
