The article, as someone else points out, is a mess. There are repeated sentences, and many run on sentences that make no sense. I'm wondering if this article should reference the imdb.com page for Jonathan Harris, because that's where a lot of this information appears to have originated.

Regards, --61.9.204.61 28 June 2005 12:20 (UTC) May just as well do that hence the sourcing for the fairness of it. I grew up with Lost in Space...:-) Jonathan Harris was one of the most talented actors to ever live. I especially enjoyed his role in "The Twilight Zone".

This is kind of a mess. In particular, these 2 sentences stick out: Midway throughout the first season, due to Harris' popularity on the show, he rewrote the dialogue, in favor of Allen, who gave him carte-blanche to become a writer. He in turn, also stole the show, mainly via a list of alliterative insults which soon worked their way into popular speech.

Who is the 'he' who re-wrote the dialogue? I assume the "Allen" is Irwin Allen who is mentioned further down, but what does the phrase "in factor of Allen" mean? It implies the re-written diologue highlights Allen. Allen gave who carte blanche to become a writer? (and 'carte blanche' should not be hyphenated and probably should be italicized.

It would be good to have a few examples of the referenced 'alliterative insults'.

I took out second external link (fortune city) but then reverted because that site does have some useful content on Jonathan Harris. However, using that site is a real nuisance because, as like some free webhosting sites, it has adserver running and the site is heavily overlaid by the host. Unfortunately, only one of the sidebars (Photot) is functional on the site and when you click on comments (I wanted to alert the author) it brings up a fortune city comment page etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.146.97.227 (talk) 21:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If Wiki is interested, I could replace my notes, on Jonathan Harris "Twilight Zone" appearances, in a more accurate and appropriate place, such as before "Lost in Space"...? It was an excellent episode ["The Silence"]. But actually, J. Harris appeared in at least two Zones, both of the serious variety, and both times playing serious characters. "The Silence" was probably the better episode, certainly the better filmed. I will watch Jonathan's "Night Gallery" Work, too, this summer. I know Wiki has notes on this work of Mr. Harris following "Lost in Space", so presumably should be left there. It is the section on "typecasting". Yet, "Twilight Zone" appeared before "Lost in Space", with Rod Serling's "Night Gallery" appearing afterwards. Perhaps I will explain this. (John G. Lewis (talk) 14:26, 20 May 2014 (UTC))[reply]

The other Twilight Zone episode was... "Twenty Two" where, oddly, and again, Mr. Harris played a hero [doctor] defending an individual [patient]. Both 1961. Yet I believe in respect to his TZ efforts, and the Night Gallery, the manner in which Wiki has it presently written up and arranged in the article, is acceptable and good. The director for the famous "The Silence" episode of The Twilight Zone was Boris Sagal, interestingly. (John G. Lewis (talk) 21:19, 2 June 2014 (UTC))[reply]

20th-century American poets?

[edit]

In a quick browse of this article I wasn't able to find anything that suggested including it in the 20th-century American poets category. Did he publish any poetry? If this category is used then the article should clearly mention his poetry, if he wrote any. Louieoddie (talk) 07:43, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing about his homosexuality?

Really? 173.48.166.33 (talk) 20:13, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a reliable source, why don't YOU add it? There was always a lot of baseless gossip about celebrities last century, so be very careful whom you quote. All the Best! Shir-El too 21:44, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Zachary Smith cameo in the Simpsons

[edit]

There is a Simpsons episode where Bart is at some kind of science fiction fair. A Zachary Smith-like character in a booth sinisterly invites Bart to meet him later, whereupon a robot alongside him starts whirling its arms and says "Danger, Bart Simpson, Danger". I don't know the name of the episode so I don't know if he did his own Zachary Smith voice for the episode. Philh-591 (talk) 19:24, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's the episode Mayored to the Mob (1998), but I don't know who did the voice. Philh-591 (talk) 19:41, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Though Harris was still alive at the time, Dan Castellaneta did his voice: episode credits Cheers! Shir-El too 10:33, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Philh-591 I never watched either the Simpsons or the original Lost in Space, so don't know if the robot's action was normal. There seem to be too many episodes to skim through, so I suggest you contact "The Simpsons" producers directly and ask if Jonathan Harris was ever a guest on the show. Good Luck with your research! Born in the Bronx? Where?

[edit]

Where in the Bronx was Harris born? I can't find anything on the exact neighborhood he was born in. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 14:22, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
