Speedy deletion nomination of Jonathan Cheban
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Jonathan Cheban requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 97.103.228.21 (talk) 03:20, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Notability
[edit]Jonathan Cheban is clearly notable as he has started his own television show, runs a high publicity public relations company, and is referenced in diverse publications including the New York Post. While one may disagree that his fame is warranted, one cannot deny that he is famous and has affected the cultural landscape in a notable way. 03:20, 27 February 2010 97.103.228.21
While you may not agree with the assessment that Jonathan Cheban's fame is warranted, or for that mattet that he has any talent, his notability is unarguable. he currently has a reality show on the entertainment channel and frequently appears on keeping up with the kardashians. he is also mentioned in the keeping up with the kardashians wikipedia entry. 05:55, 27 February 2010 97.103.228.21
- whatever anyone thinks, you still need to sign your posts with four tildes. it also isn't appropriate to remove tags without consensus, nor should you blank pages. i have restored the deleted material to this page. badmachine (talk) 12:29, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- that's hilarious, but you also should not vandalize another persons comments. that post has my name on it, and people might think i wrote that. make your own comments, and leave mine alone. if the article was spuriously tagged, it will come out at the afd. ending your comments with four tildes (~) makes this happen: badmachine (talk) 23:14, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
A four page Washington Post article has been included that from 2005 that demonstrates notability. You will note the requirements for entertainer biography are as such, "Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment." SPINdustry certainly unique as it is the first reality show off such a public relations business. Cheban is a prolific celebrity as he is regularly a part of Keeping up with the Kardashians, and has gained notoriety in the Washington Post for his business. While many people don't believe Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton deserve their fame and notability, one cannot deny they are famous and notable -- the same is true of Jonathan Cheban. This seems to be more a matter of personal taste, than a matter of whether this post is truly notable. jwolfe2
- You seem to be quite interested in this article, to the point of violating wiki policy in an effort to protect it. I get the impression that there may be a conflict of interest. Hellbus (talk) 07:45, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
More ridiculous censorship here what else is new?
[edit]Just for the record I was the one who requested that an article be created for this famous person because I noticed the info. was absent.
I see that claims of agenda bla bla....but my request was the result of noticing that there was no reference.
And furthermore, the reason why I bothered to complete a request proposal, is because of the general ridiculousness of this entire project, and the fact that an interesting famous person such as this guy and others are not considered "noteworthy" enough to have an article and the objections raised and the editorial actions taken to delete a requested article from the public.
I guess I just don't get and never will, why "Bios" are looked at as nothing more than self-promotional spam here, when I wouldn't dream of disturbing one speck of Pokemon' info, of which I am sure there is an over-abundance.
.....because it is instances such as this specific instance and others, that I personally, at this time would not spend any meaningful amount of my valuable time working on a project that is subject to the whim of admin and editors who are using this project as a tool for games and nonsense. And why would a person want to bother trying to gain more skills in editing when all they see is destruction of carefully contributed information?
Yes i am gathering a laundry-list of topics and subjects that have been posted in good faith by well -meaning editors, and maybe i will even collect them all in an "airing of the grievances" on that holiday that is celebrated sometime in December, and maybe I won't, but that list of items which has been purged from the view of the people who come here to find the info. and find it missing, is getting pretty long.
