lists

[edit]

i think it'd be better if the albums were listed chronologically and divided in "studio albums", "live albums" and "compilations" (just like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley_discography ) instead of being listed by their record company. i could change it, if i get your permission.78.52.38.218 (talk) 15:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Albums

[edit]

instead of saying "countless albums have been released", why doesn't someone just count them and actually put how many he actually made? I would but I don't care enough. But obviously the number of albums are not countless.

The problem is defining what deserves to be counted as an album. Do live albums count? Do compilations count? Do compilations with one new song count? Do box sets count as one album, or multiple? Do duet/collaboration albums count? Anyway, he's released a lot of albums, much more than the typical recording artist, hence countless. An imperfect word, but no more imperfect than any count. --Alcuin 12:07, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We can narrow and pin down the number if we count the studio albums, just to give an idea of his output, because some of his best albums are live, of course. Nazroon200.55.119.173 08:07, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I plan to add a studio album or two that we missed when creating the discography, and I presume there's more we don't know about. But, even without the latter, we could give an estimate of the number of albums released. Cromag 08:50, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy Living Legend award?

[edit]

The page previously listed a 1991 Grammy Living Legend Award; I could find no corroboration elsewhere, so I zapped it from the article. Alcuin 15:08, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it would be better -and less confusing- to have listed the Grammys strictly given to him, than works in which he participated (those could be listed separately). For example, did he received the Grammy for the video, which was not directed by him? Nazroon200.55.119.173 08:04, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

charts

[edit]

God's Gonna Cut You Down should be on there — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.141.109.33 (talk)

According to All Music Guide, the song didn't chart. Cromag 22:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimate Gospel

[edit]

Why is it listed under miscellanious when it is clearly a Columbia compilation? --89.245.64.169 (talk) 10:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny Cash's Country Round-Up

[edit]

I have a record with the above titled, it features 4 songs by Cash and then he introduces the other two artists on the record Billy Grammer and then The Wilburn Bros. It was released on Hilltop in 1965 (Catalog # JS-6010). Is there a reason it is not included? If not, shall I add it? Joshuah Hounshell (talk) 23:25, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't sound like an official release. You shouldn't bother adding it. --115.135.23.127 (talk) 14:02, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

B-sides?

[edit]

Hi, I see the Sun Records discography lists b-sides, but the main discography doesn't. I'd like to list the b-sides for all his singles, but want to see if anyone has objections. Always absent (talk) 03:37, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies/style B-sides cannot be included in the discography. The only b-sides that can be included are the ones that charted. --Caldorwards4 (talk) 03:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ring Of Fire: The Best Of Johnny Cash

[edit]

I think this album belongs in the compilations section since it is composed of previously-released material, any objections to moving it? Always absent (talk) 21:18, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unearthed is not a studio album

[edit]

It is a compilation/box set. 75.161.67.135 (talk) 16:20, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gospel album "I Believe"

[edit]

It is mostly a compilation of the "A Believer Sings the Truth" with four new songs. His gospel compilation album "Just As I Am" is essentially "Precious Memories" with two new songs. So why is one a compilation and the other listed under gospel albums? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darth Septic (talkcontribs) 14:24, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
