John Williams (researcher) → John Williams (medical researcher) – Ambiguous with numerous other articles. 207.161.86.162 (talk) 03:06, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 22:09, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- Whilst I agree in principle, the new title should be John Williams (gastroenterologist), which is what he actually is. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:44, 13 October 2021 (UTC)]
- Based on this profile, most of his research appears to be outside the field of gastroenterology (which I suspect is why it wasn't used as a disambiguator already). 207.161.86.162 (talk) 01:37, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- The article suggests gastroenterology is still at the core of his work. He was Professor of Medicine at Swansea and is still a consultant gastroenterologist, so I don't think "medical researcher" is really appropriate. That's usually applied to medical scientists who aren't practising doctors. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:24, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- I agree. It should be John Williams (gastroenterologist). From my point of view, he's clearly a gastroenterologist above anything else he may also be involved in. And I imagine the general public sees him as a doctor rather than a researcher, but that may just be my perception. Dr. Vogel (talk) 17:07, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

- Support John Williams (gastroenterologist) per above. I agree the current title is ambiguous and that "medical researcher" is still problematic. We don't have a date-of-birth, so (physician, born 19XX) isn't possible. (gastroenterologist) is the best of multiple mediocre options. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 20:31, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
