I believe that more detail needs to be given about his career. This section should eventually be multiple subsections.
Very little detail of the work he has done is mentioned. The various expeditions he's been on are mentioned but the outcomes of these expeditions are not.
The article could do with more references and inline citing. Finding references should not be hard because of the amount of books that he has published. These books are already mentioned in the article, but information should specifically be extracted from them.
I believe proportion wise too much emphasis is given Australia. I don't think this section should be reduced, but rather the other sections expanded.
Given the dates and his publications it should be straight forward to find maps etc. that he's made which are in the free domain due to copyright expiration.
