John W. Underwood - Notability
[edit]John W. Underwood (aka: John Underwood) meets the Wikipedia requirements for WP:Notability because of his role as one of the pre-eminent historians in his field: American aviation history -- a point attested to by two of the principal organizations in that field:
- the American Aviation Historical Society[1] (who awarded him their Lifetime Achievement Award); and
- the Vintage Aircraft Association (of the Experimental Aircraft Association) -- who inducted him into their Hall of Fame.
A simple test by searching Wikipedia for references to his name demonstrates his notability convincingly, as he is -- among Wikipedia articles -- one of the most-referenced aviation historians. His articles, by the dozens, have appeared in aviation history journals nationwide, and his dozen or so books are considered, in many cases, the definitive works on their subjects.
