[edit]This subject appears to be sufficiently notable; there are many wikipedia pages on state senators. Indeed the quality of the article is already better than some. Jaraalbe 10:01, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

– The politician, whose entry is a stub, or barely above a stub, is too minor and obscure a historical figure to serve as a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 07:13, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support – some of the other people listed in the disambiguation are as, if not more, notable than him. Laurdecl talk 07:39, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support and move John van Dyke to John van Dyke (athlete) as well Nohomersryan (talk) 12:34, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support. He doesn't have a particularly strong claim to being more notable than anybody else listed on the dab page; the only real claim to primary topic here is that two of the other three have middle names present in their titles and the third has a lower case instead of capital v in "van", which means this one is the only one whose title is using one particular form of the same name. But in actual practice it's completely arbitrary as to whether or not the tussenvoegsel in a Dutch surname gets capitalized in English, given that anglophones generally don't understand the real Dutch rules — so there's no solid basis for keeping a "John Van Dyke" and a "John van Dyke" of comparable notability to each other at undisambiguated titles that differ only in the capitalization or non-capitalization of the tussenvoegsel, because the likelihood of people ending up at one article when they were intending to find the other one is almost literally a 50-50 tossup. And yes, the athlete should be moved to a disambiguated title as well, with the plain title redirected back to the dab page. Bearcat (talk) 15:53, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support - swap as per Nohomersryan based on WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. DrStrauss talk 15:14, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
