[edit]Where is John Trumbull, American Poet? Electrawn 02:37, 9 August 2006 (UTC) Why so short?
I have deleted the picture, for it is NOT a self-portrait. The painting is BY John Trumbull, the painter (1756-1843), and SHOWS his cousin of the same name, the poet (1750-1831). See catalog by Helen A Cooper: John Trumbull, New Haven, 1982, p. 144 and http://www.dia.org/the_collection/overview/viewobject.asp?objectid=63753 --hklinke 11:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]And so I have removed the tag. However, I am not certain the provenances of the paintings remain accurate from 1911 to 2007. To the best of my ability, I have ascertained that the portraits of President and Mrs. Washington belong to the National Museum of American History, but it would seem strange that this would be the case, rather than, for example, the National Portrait Gallery, etc. I would appreciate if an expert could double-check the locations of some of these paintings.
